What Has System Wars Become?

It seems that all everyone cares about are sales.

We should be caring about the GAMES.

Sales determine quality,let's just accept it.

1. Wii - by far the best console
2. 360 - better than ps3 , but the Wii puts it to shame in quality comparison
3. PS3 - worst console this gen by far

There's really no point to SW anymore , but I guess we can still talk about game sales. Which has sold more (errrrr , is better), Halo Wars or Killzone 2 ?

I totally agree with you: we should debate games not sales numbers (can't debate facts)

Problem is - games are 100% subjective.

It's like discussing what hair color we like best on the opposite sex ... there's nothing more than opinion to talk about. Given most people want to be `right', there's nowhere to go without some basic data. Without sales [aka facts], it's just everyone's opinion.

Not that I think discussing sales all the time is the most important use of our time ... but there needs to be some data [and game scores are pretty questionable, as just about every site has a bias in some way].

So until there's some other useful metric to bandy about, we're stuck with sales.

It has become a mere shadow of its former glory, that's for sure.

Yeah,its a funny,messed up place where 99% of all things posted is just irrelevant nonsense or some crazy spin on things.Its all about damage control.The Topic creators,the real Fanboys(not all TC's) are the ones to blame for the state of SW.But for some reason the rest of us feel the need to reply so it keeps going.

Let's get one fact straight, System Wars is NOT consistent. One day a fanboy will denounce sales and claim it doesn't matter. The next day the fanboy will use sales as means for ownage.

Most people in System Wars are idiots that still have to point out that something is "subjective", as if that wasn't obvious to anybody with a brain. Also, Gamespot's rating systems are objectively incompatible with the way the human brain works, so using them as any sort of benchmark is stupid.

SW became boring, no trolls, no official hype threads and god forbid someone make a game called bets and everybody wants to act as a "gamer", we want more delusional fanboys

Reasons why sales matter: It's fact there no opinion so it makes it easier to make a point. Like review scores are at least more fact than everyone yelling out loud my game is better than yours. Second is that sales equal games. Before you point at the Wii and say no it does not. Look at the Wii this time last year. There were great 1st and 2nd party games but little when it came to third party. This year the Wii is keeping up with the other two systems. If the trend keeps going this way next year review wise the Wii will have a better line up. It takes time to make games we are now at the point where that time is kicking in due to the Wii's sales. You will also see a bigger drop in third party games for the PS3 starting towards the end of next year. That is when most 3rd party companies who did not already start making games before the PS3 started to drop in sales will change to other systems. HarlockJC

I'm a gamer and I care about sales. Since Valkyria Chronicles didn't seel so hot on PS3 the sequel gets put on PSP. Hooray for sales!

This post here is why its hard to talk about games, especially based on review scores. Invariably, someone's going to come in an say, "Well, Halo 3 outscored Killzone 2 LOLZ". Then another person brings up MGS4 - followed by lots of bickering over review scores vs community opinion until someone decides to link the LoZ:OoT Gamerankings page as a "definitive" end to the argument.

In other words, people arguing about games boils down to people arguing over their opinion, or usually, the opinions of someone else.

But personally, I don't think anyone takes SW seriously anymore except a few diehard fanboys. :P
