What if the 360 was $99

Everyone always says MS has the advantage of money, now I know they could make the 360 that cheap, but what if MS were to just get frustrated with Wii Sales and drop the price to $100?

now I know its not plausable to just do that right now but think about it, $100 core $200 Pro $300 Elite, you think they would just leap off shelves?

IDK I just think the $200 price drop is going to have a huge impact

If so, then the 360 would be much less powerful than it currently is. Probably no more powerful than the Wii. And it would still lose to the Wii.

No, that's the Opus, which is a refurb model of Jasper... or that's my understanding anyway.

I should add it would probably be a huge setback for PS3 sales if they kept their 80 gb SKU at $399. Whether or not the 360 flies off the shelf, it would still constitute a victory if it just stopped people from getting a PS3. But, more likely than not, Sony would reposition their 80 gb SKU at $249 - the Wii's price point, which would make it once again the cheapest high quality Blu-ray player available, and they'd push that angle.

my 4th 360 I have had for awhile since coming back and it seems to be performing well

Everyone keeps going on about the magical $199 price point. Truth is you can get a used Xbox 360 on Ebay for anywhere from $150-200 usually with the hard drive all the accessories and a game or 2. People just need to shop for a deal. I get incredible game deals all the time on Craigslist and Ebay. I guess there's a stigma about getting scammed or getting a broken system but I've bought and sold probably 100 Xbox 360s and only one was a scam and 3 had the RROD. And MS fixed those for me for free. I don't think it will be long before you can get a used 360 for around $100. Shop around people and quit complaining. I'm currently shopping for a PS3 and I will be able to get one for about $250.fanboy999

but thats the point, the audience that people talk about arent going to be shopping around like that, MSRP is completely different than just finding a deal

Same here and it's not all about the RROD. I lost any kind of confidence in M$ a long time ago around the time Windows 95 was the top OS.

yeah, but you cant take/play your retail games online

buying an external HDD + arcade x360,would be expensive, might as well buy a pro version than that $hi++y arcade ver.

well then ms will loose alot of money on each sale

and if it started selling more, then the will will go down to $25 and still make money per sale and own the 360

Err actually you can play your retail games online with the arcade version i got a couple of friends that own arcade versions and we play cod4 and gta4 online all the time..

That would be about as likely as me vomiting up Jesus.

No console would ever be so cheap compared to the competitors because it'd have to be so underpowered it wouldn't be worth doing anything with, it'd be like the same spec as the console before but worse.
