[QUOTE="Mr720fan"][QUOTE="BPoole96"] Are those payment plans confirmed yet or is that just speculation? I won't be surprised if they have a subsidized contract model that has the customer paying more in the long run, but I haven't read anything confirming it.BPoole96
well I know how the company I work for runs, they offer giftcards of up to 300 dollars to lock into a contract. Simply put its a win/win for both the triple play provider and x1. The triple play provider gets the subscriber, and x1 gets the sale of the x1. Pachter says this is the reason why MS will win this gen, and I agree. Its a built in way to sell consoles. MS has already contacted SKY, which is the only real IPTV provider going right now, and more to come.
Why would cable providers like Comcast and Verizon want to hand over power to MS though? Even if they are getting another subscriber, if people migrate en mass over to XBone for cable, they would be the middleman in the situation, rather than having all the control like they currently do.X1 needs a cablebox to offer its IPTV which cable providers sell at a monthly charge, no middleman, its part of a promotion, cable providers want subscribers to lock into a contact because they get monthly revenue from a subscriber, its win win. YOu will pay a fraction of the price for the x1, like i said they give out 300 dollar gift cards to lock you into a contact, currently FiOS offers a 200 dollar giftcard and multiroom DVR for life just so a subscriber signs up.
