It could be anything. You don't like the fact that there aren't as many point and click adventures anymore. You don't like the fact that games are shorter nowadays. You don't like the fact that Nintendo is no longer dominating the handheld market.

Personally, I don't like how FPSs don't have health meters anymore. They just sort of... disappeared. Now you can just sit in a corner for five seconds, and BOOM! You are fully healed. In games like Red Steel, this made things extremely easy, especially when you have games with dumb AI.

Is Project Origin taking this path, or will it have what FEAR had with its health meter?

Anyway, what say you?

I want multiplats to die off and I want lack of variety to die off. I hate how the PS3 and XBOX360 are basically the same console sharing the same games with the odd few exclusives between them. I mean whats the point of these 2 consoles if there just clones. And I hate the ammount of shooters there is, there should be a massive amount of games from all genres not a massive amount from 1 genre and rest of the genres get a hand full.

Pwning Sony, but this is the first time in history, I think, that another handheld that isn't created by Nintendo, has done well. PSP is getting owned by the DS, but there's still some competition.

I really dont miss anything. I think everything is better now. We have more originality, more complexity, and I think... more fun.

But I guess I do miss the first time I played Metroid Prime for the GC. In my opinion, the greatest game ever made.

That's one.

We need more platformers that are as good as super mario galaxy, but we need them in shorter amount of time (not after every 5 years).

The only other platformer series I really enjoy is R&C.

I miss when a thing called hype didn't dictate how good a game was and also how the gaming media didn't play such a ridiculous role in it. Fanboys didn't bicker over scores just to prove to the other that their purchase was justified.

I also miss having no load times, thats a big one for me. I also miss split-screen/local multiplayer which I believe is far superior than online is.

There hasnt been a single WRPG to hook me as much as Diablo II. I still play on the PC because I can go back to the old days, and meanwhile, play some of the new stuff. But I havent found a game to hook me on the PC as much as Diablo II did. I find many JRPGs in the consoles that hook me for hours, but I just can find WRPGs that do that on the PC. Most of the time, I finish them in less than 20 hours, and I feel almost no need to start with either a new class and character.

BTW, I still play Diablo II :D

I don't like how most games narrowed down to graphics rather gameplay that's also challenging. Example being TP was the easiest Zelda game I have ever played but still good

Good Scrolling Shooters. Nowadays the only scrolling shooters that come out are just incredibly average, where the background scrolls down, the enemies come down in repetitive and predictable paths, no enemies coming from surprise directions to mess you up, just they pop up and you press the fire button. That's one genre where creativity and originality really just died.

The fact that the industry now mature, and thus innovation is very rare today. All games that I see today is some modification of the previous games (different story-line, different setting, same game mechanics)

There is one noticeable exception - SPORE. But back in 90s, there were lots of genre defining games, each year...

(I also do not count the "casual" games of Wii here, like Wii fit. This is not exactly gaming we are talking about here.)

The industry is NOT mature. An industry cannot mature in just twenty years. That we are seeing is the stagnation of a very small, limited niche. For gaming to mature, "casual" gaming will have to take over, because the "hardcore" market is too limited in scope to really explode.

I miss the hidden secret rumors that people would always make up. With the internet and FAQs, people can actually have a way to check if these secrets exist...but way back when you had to try it out for yourself.

An example would be getting Mew in Pokemon R/B...there were many different rumors about how to actually catch it (walkthroughs killed this).

...Consoles with cartridges (no loading times)

I imagine such a concept would probably hurt many a gamer's brain were it re-introduced today...

I miss games that are hard to master, you see alot of old shooters etc, easy to play hard to master.

New shooters are more easy less complex, you don't need to learn the recoil, guns, etc. they have become so that anyone can get a kill and own, kinda takes the fun out of it for me.

Bring back complex games.

The ID cards game in Dino Crisis was fun. I was twelve and didnt knew much english by then roughly enough to be able to play games, and I had a ton of fun solving them. Specially the later ones :D I remember to write down the codes in my book, and solve them first and then continue with the game :D

The platforming genre. I mean sure we have a couple mario's and ripoffs now and then, but compared to how it used to be, platformers are essentially nonexistant.

Good, strong original games like the Commodore 64 days.

I miss really good 2D games that aren't platformers

I miss 2D graphics where things were 'symbolic'. I love that art style

Real games? Oh please. Just because a game is non-traditional doesn't mean it's not a game. Stuff like the touch gen games and wii series are still games. You'd have to have your head pretty far up your arse to not consider casual games "real".

Agreed.

As well as spaceflight/dungeon crawlers like Descent and mechsims disappearing. And of course the health meters in FPS' thing.
