Why? Internet caps keep download speeds high. Without them, bandwidth hogs would drag down download speed.man people really need ot protest this before it becomes completely standard
Ragashahs
ROgers FTW.
i remember this on the news before, that Rogers (here in Canada) was (and still is) charging 'hideous' fees. and then there was this '911 service charge fee' per month and this guy was being charged for it every month even if his town doesn't even have 911 HAHAHAHA so funny.

I guess Rogers is the new AOL.My ISP doesn't cap our internet. I guess I'm one of the lucky ones.MortalDecayMust be one of the crappy ISPs, or one that has one of those hidden caps.

You definitely are. But don't get to comfy. Now that Comcast is going with nationwide caps and people haven't revolted, AT&T, Time Warner and others have announced plans to extend or introduce caps on their services as well.
Unfortunately, Service caps are gonna be the standard in the U.S. within the next couple years.
And yeah, that will slow the adoption rate of DD considerably...

Only a small portion of ISP's ( here in EU i havent heard about any isp implementing caps ) do implement caps and usually they are cable not DSL

No it won't. People will just pay the surplus charges.iv fully embraced DD, probably helps that i only pay £5 a month for my net with 16MB download speed and unlimited usage :) the less time i have to wait for new games the better and if i can DL them the day they are released rather than having to go and pick it up or wait for it to be delivered im not gonna complain.
i can understand why some people would be opposed to it but as time goes by internet speeds will get faster and cheaper, right now it may not be ideal but its the future of gaming so people should really get used to it.

I could care less about internet speeds and more about killing the second hand game market.
DD is the bane of gaming, once we give all the control to the publishers we can only lose as consumers.
But that is just my opinion.

Never have problems. I've been with them for about 4 years now. And they don't have hidden caps... What's it to you anyways? Is that jealousy I detect?

that bill says he use 411Gb over his limit in 1 month. 411Gb in 1 month plus what ever his cap was. 411Gb. thats 13gb a day. that dude must be some pirate

Or grabbing scenes off his work FTP server for 3D modeling.
Or getting a hell of a lot out of his subscription streaming services.

If it's a local ISP that only services a small town, it may not require a cap due to it not having many users. That would change though if the bandwidth hogs all come to your ISP because it has "unlimited downloads". In other words, enjoy it while it lasts.

All scenarios that the overwhelming majority of people will never encounter. You'd have to stream HD content 24/7 to hit 411 gigs in a month. You're right, most people here don't understand the concept of backup and the minority hold steady jobs....

Its rare in the US as welll...dont believe the TC...he raelly has no idea what hes talking about.
I'd blame ISPs, not DD services.supercubedude64Blame bandwidth hogs, not ISPs. Think of it this way, even all-you-can-eat buffet restaurants can refuse service after a while. You pay for what you use.
As others have said, anyone who has gone 411GB over their cap is either pirating at a ludicrous rate or should have a commercial plan. Furthermore, it's important to note that Rogers is one of the best arguments in the world for net neutrality.
But you are correct, bandwidth caps will be a major barrier for DD. The hope is that by the time downloads reach a size that makes DD unfeasible for the average user based on current bandwidth caps, the government organizations responsible for the telecom industry (ie the FCC and CRTC) will make the necessary rulings for greater net neutrality.
I'd blame ISPs, not DD services.supercubedude64That is funny. I wouldn't blame either of them. I would blame all the people out there that would rather download entertainment illegally (be it, movies, music, video games). Maybe its also those 10 year olds who download porn in daddy's basement. But it isn't the ISPs or the DD providers you should be blaming.
Nah, the reason why Rogers has such amazing download speeds is because of bandwidth caps. What's the point in having a fast internet conection if you can only use it to a certain point? Digital Distribution and cloud computing is the the future. We already have movie and TV shows we can download on our videogame consoles as well as games, demos, add-ons, etc. What happens when all that becomes the norm as well as cloud based gaming services like on-live and other cloud computing services as well as internet video streaming services like hulu? These DL caps will throw a wrench into all that and slow down progress.

this is a funny topic to make a new account for. just sayin....
I embrace dd and cloud computing too, but it'll take at least 10 years to become the standard. longer for cloud computing in general to reach its full potential. it'll take some time for people to accept keeping all their stuff on a google server somewhere.
I embrace debate on these issues, but please check your rhetoric at the door. at least back up your statements up with something more then Glenn Beck like fear mongering about the man taking away your rights.
