OMG what was that person doing to DL 411 GB of stuff. Most of the caps I've seen companies are around 60 GB a month, if your DL more than 60 GB a month you definatley need help get out of your house and do something and also quit being a pirate.

We're still pretty much in the infancy of the internet right now. It's not going to be the same in 20, 30 years, and DD will be the de facto distrobution method for almost all forms of entertainment.

Really, the internet isn't always going to be delivered via cable running to your house, it's going to be ubiquitous. Your wrist watch is going to be online, your sunglasses will be online, your car will be online, and probably your fridge, too (to keep abreast of product recalls and such).

Everything you own will someday have a digital representation on the internet. And when the internet is that ubiquitous, DD just makes sense.
