There is a lot of confusion on this forum about what a casual gamer is, so what exactly are they in your mind? Are they:
A) The people who prefer short fun experiences like Wii Sports, PopCap titles, Tetris and the other "short bursts of fun" type games. They don't play very often and when do it is for a fun when they have some spare time. Games are a casual laid back distraction to them
Or
B) The gamers who purely play games, taking little notice of gaming media and buy yearly updates of titles like Madden and Fifa. They often buy titles based on licenses like 50 Cent and other film tie in games as well as other titles like Grand Theft Auto. Games for them are more about status and having that "cool" factor that licensed games have.
For me option B has always been what a casual gamer is to me.
Please note this is not meant as an attack on any group, nor is it meant to be an elitest type of statement. Afterall I also play games like Tetris, GTA and many other games. I am not a huge fan of gamers being seperated into groups since it almost always leads to snobbery, but it has happened anyway and there seems to be some confusion as to what each group is so I hope we can clear the issue.
