I originally played it on low settings and that didn't stop me from having fun. In fact, I enjoyed it more than Halo 3 despite it looking like Far Cry on my system at the time. It has a fine single-player campaign, which is more than I can say for the majority of other FPS's I've played this generation.

without its graphics, it would still be the winner of 2007's shooter GOTY over COD4, Halo3, Bioshock etc...Silenthps

I do not agree. Crysis is a fantastic game, but the graphics helped a lot score wise, methinks. If the game didn't focus on **** our PCs back in 07 then I think that the game would have a larger world to play in and a somewhat different campaign.(which it would if you dig and find the Crytek discussion)

1. Basically, we won't get the annoying fanboys posting random Crysis images in every graphics related thread regardless if they weren't even welcome.

2. We won't get annoying fanboys whining about the use of the term "Console Graphics King."

3. Their "graphics king" is no more.

4. Probably less Hermits around.

5. PC gaming is going to die a little bit sooner.

6. GS score will be an 8.0.

I didnt like the choice you have up there so I didnt vote but the better the graphics the easier it is to immerse yourself into the gameplay... so yea graphics matter alot!

Crysis is a good FPS, but not as amazing, immersive and fun as S.T.A.L.K.E.R. ;)

One thing is certain: Crysis without it's graphics would have more to offer than any other "graphics king" people often bring up without it's graphics.

[QUOTE="Zero_epyon"][QUOTE="jasonharris48"] Just wondering have you played it?

AnnoyedDragon

I have and I agree. It would be like any other FPS. The main reason bring it up to this day is for graphics threads. When have you gone into a FPS thread and see, "OH crysis's fps mechanics are better!" or "Man that was copied off of crysis!" Never. Never I say! No one remembers crysis for story or gameplay.

And this is how we know you have no idea what you are talking about.

The insecurity seeping from the console end regarding this game is incredible, I stand by my original response in this thread.

I'm sorry if you got offended but I actually played the game and the only two things that interested me was the gun-config on the fly and the graphics. Outside of that it was a shooter. I ran, shot things, drove things and shot some more.

Let's face it, Crysis, would be nothing if it didnt have those graphics, people who disagree are lying to themselves. n00bkid
and it will still murder call of duty and killzone 2. crysis gets hyped for graphic but you don't win goty and soty awards across the board with just graphics. Crysis has a far more fun sp game than 95% of shooters this gen.

people who think its only about graphics need to stop lying to themselves.

Crysis is one of the few games I've ever played that feels like an action movie, and part of that is (as weird as it sounds) down to the slightly dumb A.I. Makes you feel like you're in Commando when you're firing your grenade launcher in the direction of a bunch of enemies and seeing twoers topple over, trees fall down and masses of enemies dieing. And using super strength to jump a high fence then shotgunning an enemy in the face is extremely satisfying.

If you played it you wouldn't be calling it "like any other FPS", therefore I don't believe you.

If you did play it and still think that; you are doing it wrong. It's not the games fault you have played so many generic FPS that you ignored everything it provided.

You walk around with bushes that are like like a nanoe meter apart then 6 koreans randmly spawn then yell yanky or what ever . open world is pointless with a linar story .

dontshackzmii

There's no random enemy spawn in Crysis; I doubt you even tried the demo.

Crysis is an incredible game, both gameplay and graphics. However, the story is rather mediocre, especially Crysis WARHEAD. The scene were Psycho tries to cry is seriously some of the worse stuff I've ever seen in my life. If they would combine the Halo Universe with the gameplay and graphics from Crysis I think it could probaly be the best FPS ever created.

Here's the scene if you don't care about spoilers. Not like you're going to play Crysis WARHEAD for its story.

It felt like it to me, which is the basis of my opinion. Can you enlighten me on what i could possibly missed besides choosing how you complete your mission whether it be by stealth run and gun or a mix, or by having the choice of completing side missions along the way? Because if that's all it is then I've been there and done that.

To say Crysis is like any other FPS you have to compare it with other FPS. When you do that, you see it does a lot more than your typical FPS.

The reviews stated what the game did differently, the fans have attempted to explain it only for it to fall on death ears, generic games that are all about the graphics don't score as high as Crysis did. Hateboys just dislike the game for previously stated reasons; so are constantly looking for excuses to bash it.

My opinion on crysis? One of the most overrated shooters in the history of video gaming. Hell what good is "open world" if its just repeated leaf and rock textures for 90 percent of the time. People who "cling on" to crysis do so because its the only "technical masterpiece" they can use to refute all the great games on consoles. Yeah it looks great, but its a freakin bore. I've had more fun playing doom 2 three four times around than enduring crysis for a few hours.

Having good gameplay is like having a good script in a movie, without a good script, the whole movie would fall apart no matter how many special effects you try to add.

That's an interesting comparison, however, COD4 doesn't represent all FPS games. Why not compare to a game like Halo, or Battlefield where you can pilot vehicles, survey your objectives before entering and have decent graphics? It's silly to compare a sandbox-like FPS game like crysis to a linear, scripted one like COD. Now please I'm not trying to take credit away from Crysis at all, However, to me it just feels like a regular FPS. The story is a bit boring until half way into it when you finally fight the aliens in their hive and after that the story ends pretty abruptly. I felt secondary obectives had little effect on the story and therefore, felt like an attempt to lengthen the gameplay, which i've seen many games do. So IN MY HONEST OPINION, Crysis is a good shooter that is only praised these days for it's graphics frst and it's gameplay second.

That is what you have been doing this entire time... You compared Crysis to a typical FPS; which are linear, scripted games like COD. Even the ones you provided as what you consider better examples are restricted, neither of them are like Crysis, neither of them have the sandbox elements.

The fact you brought Halo and Battefiled up as better examples for comparison to Crysis...

Now please I'm not trying to take credit away from Crysis at all, However, to me it just feels like a regular FPS.Zero_epyon

And what exactly are you not trying to take away from? Considering you have already decided it is a regular FPS? You are contradicting yourself.

I'm done here, the rest isn't worth responding to. You are attempting to rationalize your way of thinking and making a mess of it.

I have been a hermit for 10 years now, and most part of those 10 years I have been playing with PCs that could be considered low-end or midrange. So some games I have played in those spans, I did with lowered settings. I enjoyed those games the same as I did later when I could max them. In the case of Crysis I enjoyed it the same gameplay wise the first time I played it with mixed low-medium settings, low resolution, than when I played the second time with high settings, higher resolution, or a third time with maxed settings and even higher resolution. A great game was only getting better quality wise.

I have a very simple answer, put the graphics on low and play it. It's still a good game, but it feels very different.

[QUOTE="Zero_epyon"]Now please I'm not trying to take credit away from Crysis at all, However, to me it just feels like a regular FPS.Zero_epyon

And what exactly are you not trying to take away from? Considering you have already decided it is a regular FPS? You are contradicting yourself.

I'm done here, the rest isn't worth responding to. You are attempting to rationalize your way of thinking and making a mess of it.

Sure np. Still doesn't change that I didn't like the game as much as you do.

What you think doesn't matter. Red is still red, you think it changes because in your opinion it is blue? When we compare games we like to compare them based on facts we CAN compare. You can't compare the Halo Universe to the Crysis Universe, because that's based on appeal. We compare the available weaponry and their balance, the scale of environment, the amount of possibilities you can play the game (stealthy, one-man army, etc), advanced tech that allow different kind of gameplay (try using grass/bushes as cover in other games), we can go on and on.

In conclusion Crysis is a better shooter then any other. You don't like the Crysis Universe? Sure, that's fine, neither do I prefer it. You don't like the setting, that's fine too. Nothing of this matters because it is the core that is important everything else is just a jacket that puts it in a certain theme, environment, setting.

This "MY OPINION" thing is getting out of control.

I agree with you. The core of crysis is an fps. as an fps it does what all other fps's do. Does it do it better is up to the player. In this argument that i was having tough, I had to like crysis for it's unique style of gameplay (open environment as opposed to linear) and if I didn't like it I wasn't playing the game the "right" way. This is ridiculous. And I didn't compare a sci-fi open shooter to a fiction fps *first*. I would have compared crysis to any game it would be either Far Cry 1 or 2 or even Fallout 3 *now that I think about it*. And my original point was where in SW have you seen a topic about FPS's and Crysis comes up in almost every other post? Hardly. But put up a graphics thread and it will dominate. Never did I say the game was crap or didn't deserve its praise. I just didn't enjoy it as much as certain people here.

When it comes down to "best FPS of all time" everything needs to be top notch people tend to remember the great single-player experiences. Crysis' story is quite lackluster, nor is the universe as compelling as Half-Life or Halo. The core, the underlying structure however is superior to anything else. Sure you can play Crysis much like any other shooter, but it allows you to do more. If I stop shooting everything and just melee everything down, does this mean it is inferior because I decided not to shoot? Ofc not, so you shouldn't exclude any gameplay features either even if you don't use them, especially when there's absolutely no reason to not use them.

Show me any shooter then can play like this :http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ore80pmNEso

Hmm,the fact that Crysis raises this much discussion it´s only a testament to the game´s quality.
