I agree with you. The core of crysis is an fps. as an fps it does what all other fps's do. Does it do it better is up to the player. In this argument that i was having tough, I had to like crysis for it's unique style of gameplay (open environment as opposed to linear) and if I didn't like it I wasn't playing the game the "right" way. This is ridiculous. And I didn't compare a sci-fi open shooter to a fiction fps *first*. I would have compared crysis to any game it would be either Far Cry 1 or 2 or even Fallout 3 *now that I think about it*. And my original point was where in SW have you seen a topic about FPS's and Crysis comes up in almost every other post? Hardly. But put up a graphics thread and it will dominate. Never did I say the game was crap or didn't deserve its praise. I just didn't enjoy it as much as certain people here.[QUOTE="Zero_epyon"]

What you think doesn't matter. Red is still red, you think it changes because in your opinion it is blue? When we compare games we like to compare them based on facts we CAN compare. You can't compare the Halo Universe to the Crysis Universe, because that's based on appeal. We compare the available weaponry and their balance, the scale of environment, the amount of possibilities you can play the game (stealthy, one-man army, etc), advanced tech that allow different kind of gameplay (try using grass/bushes as cover in other games), we can go on and on.
In conclusion Crysis is a better shooter then any other. You don't like the Crysis Universe? Sure, that's fine, neither do I prefer it. You don't like the setting, that's fine too. Nothing of this matters because it is the core that is important everything else is just a jacket that puts it in a certain theme, environment, setting.
This "MY OPINION" thing is getting out of control.

When it comes down to "best FPS of all time" everything needs to be top notch people tend to remember the great single-player experiences. Crysis' story is quite lackluster, nor is the universe as compelling as Half-Life or Halo. The core, the underlying structure however is superior to anything else. Sure you can play Crysis much like any other shooter, but it allows you to do more. If I stop shooting everything and just melee everything down, does this mean it is inferior because I decided not to shoot? Ofc not, so you shouldn't exclude any gameplay features either even if you don't use them, especially when there's absolutely no reason to not use them.
Show me any shooter then can play like this :http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ore80pmNEso
Yes that was impressive. But how many people could have done this in their first or even second playthough. This person must have played this game pretty extensively to be able to do something like that. I wasn't that interested in doing such things after my first play through. I didn't really feel it. Now don't get me wrong I did try the mechanics. I did try mixing the strength with speed and used stealth when I needed it. But I felt it got in the way sometimes. Like I said I'm not saying the game is bad but in the end it's and FPS just like Halo, Killzone and others. I higher class FPS maybe, but still an FPS.
