everything that bungie put in it fits together perfectly. i don't think it's the king of shooters, but it's definitely up in the top 10 with killzone 2, resistance 2, bioshock, crysis, etc.

Well it's not a bad online, however I think the fact that it's one of the most played XBL games could have something to do with this "fact".
I don't know anyone who considers it the fps king. I'm surprised though that it is. There is alot of games I find personally better (COD4 is actually played more than it so that is the king). GEOW is probably better multiplayer.

Nah halo's single player has always been the best part of the franchise. the actual level design of the multiplayer maps and gunplay is better suited for single player, weapons arent balanced enough and forcing players to use aim assist where nobody can prove their skills really. the vehicles make the multiplayer kinda fun, but if it didnt have vehicles it would just suck.

Not in Halo 3, that's for sure. Storywise, it under-delivered on the build up from the last two games, and the resolution to dealing with the Flood made no sense. I also felt that the writing was awkward at best. The level design was completely forgettable. I genuinely think, strictly in terms of level design, that Halo 1 was better than Halo 3. Halo 3's level design felt drab, in my opinion. Long story short, it really appears Bungie put little effort into the single player in Halo 3. The multiplayer was amazing, however.
The SP=HELL NO...Crysis, Stalker, and even a Half Life 2 episode is better. MP= I would say Team Fortress 2 is better, outside of that no. Halo 3 is probably my favorite MP this gen not named TF2.

Web integration. Customization. Networking features such as File Share and Parties. The diverse community (MLG/competitive, recreational, forgers). Varied gameplay (rocket race, grifball). Extended support and updates from developer (playlist updates, banhammer, DLC) Gameplay.
I can't believe after7 years people are still trying to figure out Halo's popularity. If you don't get it or like it, you never will. Nothing we can say will change that. Just read the reviews to see what exactly is well done in the series.
For me... only the nostalgia you get that reminds you of Halo 1... but that wears off quickly.

Yeah you only go by gamespot scores when it suits you, face it dude MGS4 was an abomination period, one of the worst pieces of crap, I was really hoping they would kill Snake off after that freaking hour long ending, MGS4 was crap, period, and now its collecting dust on shelves all over the world while people are still playing the hell outta halo 3

Actually, the TC's original post didn't dispute anything. Just asked WHY like so many have before. And either way, the answer is in the dozens of reviews out there for every game in the series.
