Just finished the 1st episode. And for god sake, what is this piece of teenage drama shit? Why did it get so popular? Is just like Dawson Creek or Beverly Hills 90210, 90's kids will remember, but with time travel. Jeez.

Gameplay-wise the game is just like a typical Telltale game with choices and braindead gameplay with ultra easy puzzles. It doesn't deserve to be considered a point-&-click adventure because of how easy the game is. Story-wise is just teenage melodrama that any person over 25 can not relate to.

You gonna give us a list of every game you didn't like ever, or is there a point to this?

The game is well written. I enjoyed the story and characters. Obviously there is not much in terms of gameplay, but it is par for the course when it comes to adventure games.

Great characters ? They look too cliche and stereotypical: a shy girl with scholarship, rude jocks, weird nerds, bitchy popular girls, a rebellious friend with a violent step father, etc. These characters are so predictable and copy-pasted from all teen dramas and soap operas I saw as a kid. I bet the twists will be that all bad characters have lived some traumatic experiences and can be turned good if you help or save them.

Copied from steam reviewer. Bro finish the season before you whine about the game.

Episode 1: typical teen school drama

Episode 2: uhmmm.... wha..?

Episode 3: What. The. Hell.

Episode 4: WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA?!

Episode 5: I'm... Sorry.

Playing the first episode is like playing a tutorial and expecting the game to challenge you more. Play the rest of the game

Cliche?

a shy girl with scholarship - nope, one of this generations most fully realized protagonists with multi layers of depth. Not really shy actually.

rude jocks - one very minor character, other jocks aren't that rude.

bitchy popular girls - Ok, I will give you Victoria, she is even nasty in the prequel.

weird nerds - not really, outside a character in the prequel whose not really good, but he isn't just weird.

a rebellious friend with a violent step father - yet also one of the most fully fleshed out characters of this gen as well as multilayered. Also her stepdad really isn't violent.

"I bet the twists will be that all bad characters have lived some traumatic experiences and can be turned good if you help or save them."

Wrong

He has played the game so his opinion is not uninformed. If he has to play most of it just to find something good in it there is a BIG problem with the game.

OP: having seen people rave about LIS for so long I was honestly shocked at how awful it was. Horrible graphics that look like they were drawn by a child, cringeworthy dialogue, zero gameplay (you'd have to be intellectually challenged to describe anything in the game as a puzzle) and the music was fucking terrible as well.

The time travel element was kind of interesting but everything else was just awful. I can't stand the garbage that Telltale shovel out either so I suppose adventure games with dire graphics for people with extremely low IQ's just aren't for me.

What a stupid complaint.

You know there is people on this planet who have never played a game like this or have never watched a Tv/Movie with this storyline before?

I can’t take ANY critic or review seriously when they use the “cliche” word.

Try rating the game on what it is because it is one of the best and there really isn’t anything that compares to it.

And if you don’t like Teen Girl Melodramas, then why would you play it? LOL

He played ONE episode, thats not being well informed to make an opinion outside of that one episode. As well, most fans consider the first episode to be the weakest of the game.

And you too, have no grasp for the reason why it is popular.

This is what happens when opinions are not well informed.

How did it get popular? Because its storytelling and themes were unique and dealt with real world issues, the relationship and characters of Max, Chloe, and in the prequel Rachel were well loved, the music is incredible, and it took the genre beyond the Telltale mold. And by the data-mining of LIS 2 files, it looks to take it further.

One episode is enough to know what you're in for with the rest of the game. I played it to the end because I was genuinely amazed at how shit it was and had to find out if I was missing something. I wasn't, the game fucking blows it really is that simple. It's not like the graphics suddenly get an upgrade in the last episode or they suddenly inject actual gameplay into the whole thing and the music is just completely banal and devoid of all personality from start to finish.

I don't care what reason people give for it being popular. It will still be shit in my eyes. Telltale games are popular and they blow just as hard as LIS. Tabloids are popular. Boy bands are popular. Games with no gameplay are popular as LIS clearly demonstrates. Popularity does not = quality.

I think the OP would rather have the opinion of someone like me who is talking as a gamer as opposed to being inundated with your inane marketing spiel defending games that play themselves and literally anything Dontnod produce as though your life depends on the success of this company. Every single thing you post related to this company sounds like moronic PR drivel, nothing at all like the opinion of someone who actually plays games.

Your opinion is completely and utterly invalid.

I finished the 2nd episode, and, honestly, I am still not impressed. The topic of an ultra religious girl driven to the suicide because of bad gossip and harassment look kinda cliche as well. The game just copies topics from existing tv shows and real life news. The worst part was that the main protagonist was not actually doing anything the whole episode, but hang out with her best friend. And just at the end of the episode, in the last 10 minutes, she comes to the rescue of her another friend who had possibly got abused and molested. And the whole episode was still a standard chick drama. If the 3rd episode doesn't surprise me I quit. I have a suspicion that most of you perverts like the game because you can watch underage girls in their underwear.

So how is that cliched? Name one major work where its the religious character that gets bullied, in America. Next, this type of bullying happens all the time in real life. Its not some drama ploy. The game covers it because it is addressing these issues.

It seems to me you still do not get it. Instead of actually going to say, Steam reviews, and learning about why people like the game, you spout out your baseless assumptions simply because you don't like it. Your opinion is basically meaningless.

Do I need to tell you why adventure games collapsed in the 90's?

Face facts here, times have changed. And next, LIS is closer to Dreamfall in its style than Telltale.

Its cheesy as **** sometimes but its pretty good. Max gotta be one of my favorite protags in a while, strangely enough. Though Chloe is my least favorite, cliche and annoying.

But breh, keep playing it. Its not that bad, good series. I dunno 'bout the prequel, didnt really feel it too much.

The prequel and Farewell basically fleshes out Chloe's motivations (and David) more and tells Rachel's story. That is its biggest success.

It s not as good as the original, there are two scenes I wish they would cut from the game. It seemed so out of place. Also it went too much in the Telltale direction.

@texasgoldrush: For me it wasnt a success. Like i said, chloe wasnt my fave, i would've ditched her if i could. Anyway, i just could not get into it. And its always been similar to the telltale games but i know you have totally different opinion. I don't got time get into that. Lol

Either way, TC should keep going.

Why did it get so popular? Because its fucking good thats what.

And no, it not really teenage drama. It goes to show you have not played all the episodes and so you come spouting your uninformed opinion.

He played ONE episode, thats not being well informed to make an opinion outside of that one episode. As well, most fans consider the first episode to be the weakest of the game.

And you too, have no grasp for the reason why it is popular.

Do I need to tell you why adventure games collapsed in the 90's?

Face facts here, times have changed. And next, LIS is closer to Dreamfall in its style than Telltale.

Why are you talking about adventure games? LIS is not an adventure game it's a visual novel with really shit graphics and cringeworthy dialogue.

LIS is close enough to Telltale's garbage as to be almost identical. In both cases the player casually nudges the game along to get the next bit of story and does nothing else from beginning right to the end.

I see you're still insulting people on Dontnod's behalf and taking even the tiniest bit of criticism towards their shitty non-games extremely personally. Gormless Dontnod PR clown trolling SW confirmed.

Wrong...it goes to show you have not played games like Dreamfall (which predate Telltales rise) and Dreamfall Chapters

The only Telltale thing about the original is the episodic nature. Once again, LIS has the puzzles that Telltale lacks. Do I need to go over Ep4's investigation puzzle again?

Moronic, falsehood peddler confirmed.

No he shouldn't. If he isn't going to educate himself to see why the series is a success, then his opinions are hollow.

@blueinheaven: No, the simple matter is well informed opinions are better than uninformed ones. The problem is not that he doesn't like it, the problem is he grunts about "How is it so popular?" when he can answer that question by informing himself.

No, you are the one with the problem here. You won't accept that some people have higher standards than you. He can't understand why the game is popular because the game is very clearly a massive pile of shit. I have already explained that garbage products are often popular with people of very limited intelligence so rather than read fanboy drivel from PR clowns like you he can just listen to Mr Blue and consider himself 100% informed.

This thread is exactly what is wrong with gamers. Spoiled brats that can't understand that people like different stuff other than what they like and whine about it.

Yet, once again it has a 96% on Steam with 113,000 reviews, is one of the top games on XBL and PSN, and has 2.07M Twiiter followers, more than most franchises that are popular and for the sales it has, a huge number. This despite it not having huge glowing critical praise overall where the word of mouth from gamers carried its success.

You simply put, cannot accept it doesn't meet you outdated standards, standards which led to the collapse of the entire genre in the 90's.

So I am a PR guy? Wow you are so ignorant, keep the conspiracy theories coming.

It is not just gamers. It is just anyone who lacks the ability to have an open mind and unable to tolerate differences in opinion. Unfortunately, it is getting worse and it needs to stop before any serious harm occurs.

Modern gamers like games that play themselves. Reviewers generally don't, hence the disparity in critic and gamer reviews. Also as I have already stated, popularity means diddly squat in the modern world.

Outdated standards for what?????? And what genre are you talking about? It's not an adventure game, dumbass. It has not re-invented the genre it is in a completely different genre, it has copied the Japanese visual novel style which the Japanese devs state very clearly IS NOT A GAME and applied it to teen angst nonsense that appeals to 12 year old girls, Telltale fans who hate games that might actually make them think or force them to actually do something, and texasgoldrush.

You're not a gamer and constantly post meaningless PR-speak to defend Dontnod so yeah, PR moron is what we're going with.

Yeee, but isn't it the TC's opinion to say they dob't really like the game and isn't impressed with it? I mean, it kinda make y'all look like brats for getting upset about an opinion.

That's pretty ignorant way of thinking, yo. Not like its the greatest game ever created and the success shoveled in millions. Its flawed as ****, but entertaining as all heck. Don't need to educate and read reviews and tally up any awards it received. You're too obsessed bro, take a knee. If an opinion doesn't follow yours you flip your shit.

so 85% score (ps4, metacritic, critic score) is not good now ? and what disparity only 0.1
