Is it ...
Snake Eater?
Dragonborn?
Super Mario World?
Maybe, Don't Think Twice ?
Or what? What is the best song in a game, ever, SW?

Tetris theme?
I think that would probably be disqualified as it's just an old Russian folk song.
Everyone knows there's only one correct answer. Isn't that right, Zach?
I still love Chrono Trigger's OST but I guess it's mostly because I love the game so much.
Frostpunk, Daemon x Machina, that song from Warframe, Guild Wars 2, Tantal Day & Night from Xenoblade Chronicles 2, the whistling theme of Wild Arms, Divinity Original Sin 2. Even Star Citizen has really good music XD And of course most Nintendo games (Smash Bros Ultimate OST is insane). I think I just like game OST's in general :D
How do you pick one song.....
I think this thread would be more interesting if it were just about 'vocal' tracks, with singing.
Because I stated once that singing has no place in a computer game. I've since completely changed my mind.
It was just Super Sonic Racing that convinced me it should never be used again.
But that is mostly nonsense. The Lumines: Puzzle Fusion soundtrack is outstanding, it turns out, contains about 4 hours of music and takes influences from all over the place.
The greatest soundtrack of all time belongs to Castlevania: Symphony of the Night. That fact hasn’t changed for over 2 decades now.
For me, "To Zanarkand" from FFX. I have a friend who is really good playing guitar, so for our wedding he played an acoustic version when my wife walked down the aisle. It was simply amazing.
I really don't get how anyone can call Snake Eater's nonsensical lyrics good. Probably written by a Japanese who barely speaks English.
Other than "Insert random Sonic theme song," these are some of my favorite vocal tracks that come to mind (and yes, I love me some cheesy goodness):
(this version is technically not in the game, but it's my favorite variation)

I find it MSG3's Bond theme jarring. It's so out of place on the nose.
@ezekiel43: It's a play on old James Bond themes that were written in a similar vein.
James Bond's themes are more coherent. That line about feeding on tree frogs would make me cringe if the volume was really high.
@Renegade_Fury: man, you just reminded me, I totally forgot Persona 4. Love the music in that game.
@SolidGame_basic: Yeah, that one is nice too. It's a good thing that the battle music is always great, especially in 3 and 4, where it'd otherwise be easy to succumb to boredom due the monotony of the dungeon layouts.
These are music threads: Either just post the name of the song so I have to mess around copy-pasting text into new tabs and messing around with no idea if it will be worth it. Thanks for that very useful.
Or
Just mention a whole game.
Or
Post a whole album
But this is a new one. A link with a surprise song... Just click to see if you are being Rick-rolled or worse still FinalFantasy-rolled. *blech*
[edit] ...holy shit I have the gift of premonition. :0
Listening to SNES music is like listening to a detuned AM radio, through a long pipe, being dragged along a railway track. Clattery disjointed bad noise.

I honestly couldn't say. For example, half of all of the Sega Genesis Sonic game songs are ridiculously awesome.
But nobody has mentioned Chrono Trigger or Morrowind yet, so I'll just throw those up for the fuzzies I feel when I hear these sounds
Maximum cringe.
Like I said, I have no idea what the best song is, and i'm certainly not saying that song is anywhere near the best. It's just stuck in my head because i've been playing the game for around 20 hours now.
@lundy86_4: Yeah that song is so awesome and catchy. Have it going on in my head a lot as well.
It definitely gets you pumped when you're pulling off solid combos, even though i'm largely shite lol.
The SNES is worse than the ZX Spectrum for music.

^^ <-- me laughing at snes fans.
This is a 48k ZX Spectrum tune which has sound capabilities just above the pc internal speaker.
