I was like 7 or 8 years old and i did not know what a video game was. I didn't know there was such a thing. I started going to a daycare and they had a N64 with Ocarina of time, Super Mario 64, ect. After i watched someone else play for awhile, i decided to give it a try. Right when I discovered i controlled the little guy on the screen, a million thoughts ran through my head: I though i was like god controlling the person what to do. When I played it for the first time i thought the game looked so realistic (of course thats different now ;)) that it seemed like i was in another world. An alternate world where you can do whatever you want. This still amazes me to this day and I love every second of it :D

I forgot which game I played first, but the 2 games that turned me into a hardcore gamer was Super Mario Bros. and Captain Skyhawk.

Halo!

Just kidding. Either it was Super Mario Bros. or Pitfall II on Coleco Vision.

I played the atari at my local rec/day care center when i was in kindergarden and first game they also had a pacman arcade machine too, and a space invaders machine too.

But the game that really got me into gameing like hardcore was prob street fighter 2. I rember going to my local laundry mat after rounding up grocey carts for quaters where i used to live in philly, just to play that game. oh god the good old days. I was 8 then. 3 years later I got my first console. the Sega gensis my first games was Mortal Kombat, and Street Fighter 2 champion edtion.  I was so happy opening it up and playing it christmas morning with brother and father.  My father was hardcore into fighting games, he was cheap though he bought one of those arcade sticks that only he could use which had a auto option for the buttons and had 6 buttons on it. so he would spam the E honda slap and walk with it.

lol good times.

yeah but that is when i became a hardcore gamer.

Super Mario Bros. on the NES.  I first played NES at my cousin's and I thought it was the greatest thing ever.  I asked for one for xmas and I got one with Super Mario Bros./Duck Hunt.  That was back in 91 and I was 7 years old.

I first played Atari games back when I was 3 or 4, but it wasn't until Super Mario Bros. that I officially called myself a gamer since the NES was the first console I owned.

My father came back from work in Singapore with a machine called a "Micro Genius" which was a knockoff Nintendo, and a cartridge with 30 games on it. It had Double Dragon, Contra, Mario, Lemmy, etc etc etc. Every classic you can think of. I was in kindergarten, so 1988 sounds about right. I was so hooked it was ridiculous. I didn't want to go to school.

I've been a gamer ever since. Addicted to MMOs, breaking controllers, cursing the Gods that put that checkpoint allll the way back there.... I took a bit of a hiatus at the end of the PlayStation era, but bought a PS2 and was right back into it when GTA3 came out. Great pastime, cheaper and less dangerous than street drugs!

Although I played Super mario bros, so did everyone else. The one game I for the life of me dont know how I beat at the age of 5 had to be Final Fantasy.

For all the people that played the NES version you know what am talking about, slow walking, no story direction, impossible fights, and the Ice Cave... DAMN YOU MIND FLAYERS * They where blue wizards in the game*!!!! One shot kills are brutal in that game >.>

All the remakes thus far of FF1 are junk, their Easy, there boring, and wtf is with all the story? Hes a pirate why does he need a reason to attack me? Pirates just attack then if you win they give you their ship everyone knows that!

Well, I got started on the Atari 2600 when I was about 4.

I'm not sure which game I liked more (and made me a gamer), but it would either be Pole Position or Combat.

I was too young at the time to remember it fully but it was at a local video rental store and they had a game section with a tv set up showing some mickey mouse game for the snes or one of the older systems. Thats the first time I remember wanting a games machine and I eventually got a snes for christmas or something and I haven't stopped since.

My parents bought these now-ancient educational games for me when I was.....2 or 3, I think. I started playing Monopoly on the computer by myself at 4 (I'd set up 4 human players all controlled by me, and get them to sell every property they landed on to me for $1. Great times!). Dad ran a rental store then, so I was his tester for several NES/Master System/SNES/Genesis games the customers claimed were 'broken'. Hard to pick a proper 'first', but Sonic the Hedgehog is one of the main ones. Then I got bought a Genesis for my 6th birthday, and have been gaming on ever since. :)

Gran turismo 3, since my parents had kept me off videogames for over half of my life. At a friend's house, who had a ps2 and a lot of the classic nintendo systems, it just got me into playing games.

Forbidden Forest on Comodore 64 was the first game I kept coming back to.  Glutton for punishment I suppose.  On a console though, I remember pumping countless hours into Crystalis.

For me I'd say it was Bubble and Squeak on the Sega MegaDrive(Genesis) it wouldve been 1996 and i wouldve been 6. I Cried the day our Sega broke.....then my parents took us down to EB Games. At the time i think the PS1 or the N64 was out, so we got a Used MegaDrive real cheap. Since then i got myself a Gameboy Colour, N64, Gamecube, DS, Wii, DSlite.

I had my parents old Odyssey(sqaured) but I didnt get in to it much. When I got a NES I really got in to Mario and Zelda, and then the SNES with that shooting game (the one where the narrarator would say "reload reload", anyone know what i`m talking about?). And ever since then I`ve been a hardcore gamer.
