In celebration of the new generation of gaming, welcome to the second thread in a series of three, that will try to determine each company's legacy. Next up, the old veterans of the gaming industry, Nintendo.

Nintendo has been around for nearly thirty years now, and in that period, they've blazed the trail for the gaming industry both with their hardware, and their software. They single handedly saved the medium back in the '80s, and they have been responsible for some of the greatest advancements gaming has ever seen.

Too "old-school" for most on here. ;)

It may sound like heresy, but the more I delve into NES games the more I tend to appreciate the system and how difficult games used to be back then and like it even better than SNES.

But their 3D console that impressed me the most was deff. the N64.

I never played NES much but I'd probably place them in the following order not including backwards compatability or Virtual console access

1) SNES

2) Gamecube

3) Wii

4) N64

Was a step-down from the fantastic SMB.3 imo.

Disagree about Yoshi's Island. I hate that game, but I do agree with you about SMB3. That was much better, and thank goodness for the All-Stars SNES game.

F-Zero was so good it almost gives the SNES an edge over the NES...

But F-Zero could be even more perfect if they included a two player split-screen mode. (which was made popular by SMK later)

I kinda lean towards Super Punch Out! too, having played both, the NES and SNES version extensively.

Super Nintendo of course.

I actually didn't like All-Stars that much.

The extra 16-bit graphics and sound tarnished the originals look and feel, imo.

They also made Lost Worlds easier than it originally was.

The look, yes. Feel? They're good enough for me, at least. I just like having the option to play the NES games all on one cartridge.
