no way, super mario 3 beats it, they made a freaking movie just to advertise that game.
The Wizard. Oh god that was a terrible movie. But it had Super Mario Bros. 3.:)Sir-Marwin105
I loved that movie when I was a little kid. I should watch it again.

well if you are talking abuot SW you probably are right.
Are you saying which game has received the most hype or which game was over hyped?
Because received the most hype goes to halo 3 (it has its own mountain dew nuff said) but I think it will live up to most of it.
I think over hyped goes to twilight princess hands down.
Zelda TP, Halo may get more press attention but TP was hyped high AAA-AAAA by a huge number of people and even Miyamoto called it the best Zelda game ever. And then when that review hit, well lets just say I'm glad I'm not a mod.PBSnipes
lol, they are saying now that phantom hourglass is the best zelda ever. hope its not tp all over again.
[QUOTE="mtradr43"][QUOTE="akuma303x"]all these guesses are sad. Just look at the record books. It's HALO2.akuma303x
it wont be next month, records will change, that is a fact.
But for the now, it's HALO2. All these guys just guessing and the answer is right there. You are wrong its Halo 3.

Its got near perfect scores in japan, and if you go up to a gamer outside of GS that has played LoZTP and tell them it flopped they would probably look at you like you were crazy, until last week it was the highest rated game this gen.[QUOTE="akuma303x"][QUOTE="mtradr43"][QUOTE="akuma303x"]all these guesses are sad. Halo 3 is being really hyped, especially now that Mountain Dew is making a friggin drink for it.
Weird no one has mentioned HL2, I know it was a 1 platform release, but that got hyped like crazy.

wow sold 125million worth of it's exp in 24 hrs? really? the one that just came out? link? thats nuts. IT's got the numbers. I just need to see proof it passed halo 2. Thats all.In System Wars terms, it's either Twilight Princess or Halo 2. For both games, an incredible number of people were guaranteeing 9.7+ scores, because they were going to be even better than their predecessors. In both cases, the hype wasn't fully delivered on.
Halo 3 may have its own soda, and may have a larger ad campaign, but there are many more reservations about the title on the forums than there were for Halo 2.

probably from the craptacualr reviewing gamespot has turned to. harsher or not, i see half of the once "guarenteed" AAA games flopping here on gamespot. something like this would have been unthinkable a few months ago.

Would it have?
In 2004, the PS2 had a stellar lineup of games set to go. Metal Gear Solid 3, Jak 3, Ratchet and Clank: Up Your Arsenal, and more. The only PS2 exclusive game that reached AAA during that holiday season was San Andreas, which would later be ported. Even GT4 in early 2005 wound up flopping.
Super Mario Sunshine flopped like a fish. Jade Empire flopped. Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory flopped.
Gamespot being hard on games isn't really a new thing. Before 2001, the high end of the scale was used relatively frequently (Tekken 3, Soul Calibur, 2K Sports series, THPS series, etc.). Since THPS3, a score above 9.6 is exceedingly rare, and games that score well in other places get flopped all the time.
This isn't some kind of new trend, and I don't know why people think it is.

"2.38 million units for the game in the 24 hours" Halo 2 was close. But it is a game. Not an EXP. it's full retail. But I wonder how much wow ranked in off that one. How much is the EXP? And I dont see any hype in SW for wow EXP. So from your point, yes it sold more, was it 24 hrs thoughs? forgot to check. But it was not hyped like HALO2. HALO2 carried a system.i think the exp was 40 dollars off the shelf in most places. not sure though.
maybe because a lot of those games were overhyped? i could have told you that ratchet and clank or jak 3 wouldnt have delivered. theres a difference between mass overhyping and gamespot cruelty. the hard thing is figuring out which is in effect for each game.mtradr43
Ratchet and Clank 3 has an AAA average at Gamerankings. So does Metal Gear Solid 3. So does Shadow of the Colossus, another game that didn't make AAA here. It isn't like these are bad games.
Gamespot has always been hard on games to some extent.

ill give it to you that shadow of the colossus should have been rated higher. mgs 3 i didnt like so much due mostly to the controls and the fact that the camo system was almost worthless.
