I dont care about graphics, it just has to be good enough to be called next gen worthy.

They must be like paradise, exactly the way You want them to be. You play different games for different reasons, though it all boils down to fun. If You play a game for a scare, the graphics too will have to help You feel safe yet scared. If You play a game to be happy, the graphics should make You smile. That's imo the most important aspect of graphics, the impression they give You.
How this happens is not important. Sometimes it is achieved through great textures and lighting, other times through cell shading, and maybe next time through something entirely new.

Wow... What is wrong with you people.. It's Geometry.

Geometry with decent textures wins compared to Square heads that has great detail.

I dunno what you mean by vaseline filter, but i know that MGS4 has crappy shadows.. really crappy

Textures and Polygons are the most important to me. I can live with no dynamic lighting, even without shadows, but square headed people and bland textures really break the atmosphere.

I'm not up on technical terms, but I value 'crispness' as a grpahical quality that I want in my games. I do not care if the game is supposed to be photo-realistic or artistic, but it should be crisp-looking.

art style and design is more important than anything. I'll play games with poor graphics if they have an appealing style. On the other hand, games like Tales of Vesperia (which graphically looks pretty good), I won't play because I'm not a fan of the art style.
