Honestly... I have to say that people did a lot of unnecessary complaining with Final Fantasy XII. Another one that never got enough attention was Final Fantasy Tactics A2: Grimoire of the Rift. Both are amazing games.

None of them. Some Final Fantasy fans may say IX, but really, it's just as over rated as any other entry. It sold around five milltion and got AAA to AA score. It wasnt under rated in any sense of the word. Really, none of them are under rated. each of them are either over rated or given their due respect.
But honestly maybe the old Gameboy ones. FF Legend 1 and 2. RuinedMachine
Thing is though, their called Final Fantasy only in America. In Japan their actually some other RPG series... Forget what they're called. But when it was brought to America the changed them into Final Fantasy games in order to get better sells.

No. In my book selling well over a million copies and getting generally favorable reviews is not under rated. Especially for remade games that really do nothing new.

FF 9 some people say it has a overused story but what isnt over used 9s story will always be remembered by me plus Vivi,Zidane,Steiner,Garnette,and Freiya are just awesome Kuja is so much more evil then Kefka and Sephiroth in my opinion.
I agree with XII. People didn't like it because it was different, yet people complain because FF are all the same. All people do is complain :?. What ever, XII was probably my favorite

It gets little recognition next to other overhyped FF games considering how great it is. I enjoyed it way more than VII. I guess the word we are looking for is underappreciated.
FFX is still underrated. Its is the second best story in gaming (next to mgs4) and the most solid in game mechanics for any final fantasy. I loved it so much i bought x-2 (not as good cause they removed a lot of stratagy).
Final Fantasy XI. This was the best FF game ever made. People hated on it because it cost a monthly fee, but it was amazing, and well worth every penny. This was the only true RPG of the whole series, as you weren't playing as a pre-made character with a pre-made storyline. Best Final Fantasy ever made.
The characters sucked in Final Fantasy XII, and Vaan was just along for the ride. I don't know, really... IX definitely gets the most praise. Then VI, and then VII.
final fantasy 8 was underrated. a lot of people hated it because they expected it to be the next final fantasy 7. final fantasy 9 was too childish for me. the battle system was basic and the story I didn't give a damn about. final fantasy 6 was also underrated. kefka was a good villan and the characters were cool. but yeah, 9 was whatever I dont understand why people like it so much.
final fantasy 11 is the most underrated!!! (hahaha j/k)

Final Fantasy Adventure was actually Seiken Denetsu 1 OR Secret of mana 1. Final Fantasy Legend 1-3 were part of the Romancing Saga Series.
