The point of System Wars is to allow cross-platform discussion. For example, when "the Darkness" came out - I could not go onto a PS3 board and say "how does the performance on the PS3 compare to the performance on the Xbox 360?". These are important questions.
It is the only place where we can really discuss 95% of the gaming news, and debate the issues relevant to gamers. In a system specific board, I can say "yay, the Wii sold 300,000 units last month, the Wii is doing well!" Yet, only in SW, can we compare the sales figures of all three systems, and debate what it means.
In short, SW is the only place where we can actually *debate* the systems - where we can talk about what's going on without putting each system into a little bubble, covering our ears, and saying "nah nah nah, other systems don't exist!". The important distinction here is we can take a side, we can take multiple sides - we can even tell someone they're wrong. There's a greater debate going on, and it's absolutely wonderful.
Sure, every now and then we see a fanboy get owned, or some kind of wild rant - but for the most part, we're talking about what's going on like real gamers - because, after all - how do we define "good", "bad", and "ugly" except by comparisson?
