Watch Sony's 2006 E3 presentation. Then you'll know whats wrong.

Which makes things even more sad for Sony, being that they can't beat a half-baked, shoddy system. People like hardware they hate more than they like hardware from Sony.

"Anyone"... you wanna bet?
umm well ps3 wont crap out in 3-6 months like the 360, the ps3 has some games that the 360 have(rainbow six and oblivion)plus 2 other great ones(NGS/RFoM) it also has MLB the show which is a great game for baseball fans. Allthough it is $600 it is well worth it when you buy one. and all the great games are on they way, the ps3 is getting great games all summer, fall, and winter long. and the price cut and new rumble is on the way in the near future, so in my mind nothing is wrong with sony they are putting out a high end gaming machine that is durable and they understand the price is high but it is high for a reason wait till killzone 2 and MGS4 they will blow away gears in everyway.

did you proofread that before you posted it, or is that really your logic ?There are a number of lessons we can glean from this -- not just for the future of videogame consoles, but the future of consumer electronics. Decades from now, PS3 vs. Wii will be remembered as a cautionary business tale: how pride, politics, and an overabundance of technology can blind you to the simple truth of what consumers want. From http://money.cnn.com/2007/04/27/magazines/business2/sony_playstation.biz2/index.htmHeil68
That lesson has long since been learned. Still, some of these arguments overlook the possibility that things are going as planned for Sony. Sony HDTV sales have been through the roof since ps3 dropped, Blu Ray is slowly becoming the standard HD format, etc... It isn'tall about immediate profit and being number 1. It's about looking out for number 1, and that can complicate things a little with a company as large as Sony.
Another point would be that Sony is thinking long term, while we only consider the short term. Will things change 5 years down the line when ps3 can be priced at 300-400, make a profit for Sony, and have a monstrous attatch rate due to 5 years of built up games? When you can afford losses, business plans become more complex.
Doesn't mean ps3 couldn't still be a monstrous failure. Things just aren't as clear cut as they seem.

What have you been smoking?
yes but making a game system with such a high price could lead game developers to think it was a risky investment. It's not like Sony came up to every game developer and screamed in their face "DONT MAKE GAMES FOR THE PS3"....
But the price drop will help, even if not a whole lot. Then maybe getting a few more developers willing to work with the PS3 more.
