Super Mario Galaxy 2 is hands down the most well made game I played this gen, maybe ever.
But I'm not sure if its my favorite.
Game of the generation? Still this gem: *Nier*SlashkiceGodly first post. Though... I'm not done yet, so I can't say yet. Though, I'd have a hard time naming a SINGLE game from this gen, considering how many spectacular experiences I've had. That, and I think they all still require the "test of time." Which won't be finished for at least another 5 years (for the games that came out in 2006).
Machinarium. This game I cannot describe with words. It is the only game this gen for me that has "stayed with me".

But last gen it was this game:
mmmwksil
Tales of the Abyss was better.
They were both average. If we count 2005 onwards, I would say F.E.A.R. Laugh at me all you want, but that game was so just so awesome the first time I played it.
Actually, I know I said SMG2 in my first post, but I just realized something. I didnt play SotN until about 2 years ago, so if it counts I give my GOTG to it without question.
Pure bad ass in video game form.

You are awesome, sir.
I preferred Order of Ecclesia out of the series, but SotN is one of the greatest games ever.
Doesn't count. This gen only. :PActually, I know I said SMG2 in my first post, but I just realized something. I didnt play SotN until about 2 years ago, so if it counts I give my GOTG to it without question.

So hard to pick just one... I'd probably have to go with this:
...Followed by Mass Effect 1 & 2, Red Dead Redemption, Deus Ex HR, Uncharted 2 & Splinter Cell Conviction.
Thank you sir![QUOTE="ConanTheStoner"] Man with taste ;)

I havent tried Order of Ecclesia yet, but I intend to!I didnt play SotN until about 2 years ago, so if it counts I give my GOTG to it without question.Pure bad ass in video game form.ConanTheStonerDo try Curse of Darkness. It is essentially SOTN in 3D. But it is actually hard, and offers a "Crazy" difficulty that is, well, crazy. The FIRST enemy you encounter on Crazy can one-hit you. I barely got half way through before giving up. All this Nier I'm playing is bringing back such pleasant Curse of Darkness memories... which in turn makes me want to bust it out and blast through it for... probably the 10th time. ^_^

Nier looks like a pos. Got a 5 on GS.

... must... resist... troll bait...
Tell me why it isn't.Nier looks like a pos. Got a 5 on GS.MacBoomStickIt got a bunch of 90's on MC. It isn't a AAA blockbuster... but it is unique and extremely charming. And has not only a good story, but well-written characters. It is the furthest thing from a "POS" as a game can get. Looking past the rough edges, one can see a certain passion that went into its design. A passion that is missing from most games these days, despite having budgets big enough to cram useless junk into boring, dull, forgetful levels. I've been playing the game for a week now... and still remember, clearly and quite vividly, all the events from the beginning of the game up until where I am currently, as well as all the environments and characters. Rarely do I remember a few things that clearly in a game... let alone ALL OF IT.
Tough call, because while I love multiplayer and it's ultimately what provides longevity, there's nothing better than the first time through that epic SP game. Think I'll have to give it to the original Mass Effect. Really liked Fallout: New Vegas also, a lot more than other people it appears. Still my favorite Bethesda game despite not actually being dev'd by Bethesda.

Ya know I've always disliked 3d Castlevania. I hated the N64 game which is probably why I skipped out on SoTN in the first place thinking CV had gone to hell. I actually enjoyed LoI, but not as much as the 2d games and though the newest CV seems pretty cool, it just doesnt seem like CV.
Funny thing is I do have a copy of Curse of Darkness sitting less than 5 feet away from me under the bed, unopened. I'll give it a shot as soon as I manage to finish up some of these other games.

I'm pretty sure, barring an "act of God," that you will enjoy Curse of Darkness. Just a warning though, it is pretty slow to start, and definitely requires patience and perseverance. My first time with the game, I gave up due to boredom. Then returned about a year later and was completely enamored with it (then again, that was after I played SOTN for the first time all the way through, so it may have an effect on it). As much as I love SOTN, I enjoyed CoD far more. The music is outstanding (even if the OST is shorter than most CV OST'S). The fact you can get what are essentially "Pokemon" as familiars (in that they evolve based on your choices in combat) sets it apart from all the other CV games for me.
I don't know, that is a hard one. I did spend the most time with the Fallout games and Oblivion, but I also had alot of fun with RDR too. This is a tough question.

Yeah I remember reading about the familiars and it sounds awesome. And I think I can handle a slow start, hell I made it through FFXIII!
I'm always up for some good CV music, even the NES tracks still entertain me and since already own the game so I might as well give it a go.
Thanks for the recommendation man, I'll let you know how it goes!
edit: Ha! Found it! Along with a crap ton of other games I thought I had sold, or lost. This is going to be a great night! lol
i will recieve major hate i bet but my personal GOTG is Uncharted 3, this game is godly good
most fun i've had in a game for a long long time
