And by retro I mean..Atari, NES, Colecovision, etc
....I'm pretty fond of Pong
Most games I play are older. Everything from the original Halo, to Unreal Tournament, to Sega Genesis games on Xbox Live, to the NES Classic system.
These are all retro, because they aren't modern games. No way can I choose a favorite. I seem to play Left 4 Dead 2 more than anything now days. Is Left 4 Dead 2 modern or retro? It is about a decade old.
Arcade - The House of the Dead 3
Atari consoles - Space Invaders
ColecoVision - Donkey Kong
Nintendo consoles - Super Smash Bros Melee
Sega consoles - Streets of Rage 2
PlayStation consoles - Final Fantasy VII
Xbox - Fable
Neo Geo - Metal Slug X
DOS - The Curse of Monkey Island
The oldest game I love enough to replay it every few years is Sonic 3 & Knuckles. Sure there are older games I really like, but I don't revisite them as much as S3K
Only going to include the 4-16 bit days...
Streets of rage 2
i remember my brother and i glued to the TV playing (i would always pick skate) and my mum called us to eat dinner but we were so addicted we ignored her so she came to the room with the belt and beat our asses..
good times
@PAL360: Surprised to see Asterix mentioned here... That's one of my favourite platformers of all time.
Great game indeed! It's far from my all time favourite, but it's easily my favourite Master System game.
Yup, it was great fun. It also introduced me to the Asterix comics & cartoons, and the history of Roman-era Gaul (now called France).
However, it's not my favourite Master System game. That would be Ninja Gaiden. IMO, the SMS game is better than the NES trilogy. They're quite different games though, with the NES trilogy focusing more on the hack & slash and the SMS game focusing more on the platforming.

...seriously? That is one shitty mom.
Sonic and knuckles. it was better than anything mario did.
Yeah, I especially like the really floaty controls, and the way it encourages the player to go fast, but makes the player not able to by putting enemies and spikes where you're supposed to go fast.
Really epic game design right there. Way better than Mario's genius level design and accurate controls.
That tank game on the 2600 where you can select bouncing bullets (or maybe the plane one in where you can 'hide' in the clouds).
Lots of ones on the C64 - Paradroid, Summer Games 2, Frankie Goes To Hollywood, Head Over Heals, Mercenary, Wizball, oodles of them. Too many games to mention (sung to the tune of money's too tight to mention).

To be fair, at least that's better than her coming and turning the game console off. You'd end up losing all your progress. That's worse than getting a parental beating.

Omg. Yeah, we get it... you like going against the grain and think you're the smartest person here because of it. <EYEROLL>
Anyway, hard to pick but I'd probably go Super Metroid.
Right now I'm enjoying Afterburner II, the game John Conner plays in Terminator 2.
I haven't played that Series since I had one for my Sega Saturn. I hope they get it on Sega Ages for the Switch in the future.
