What is your Game of The Generation?

I was actually pressed about whether to put Portal 2 at #3 or not because I think the experience was ultimately better, my only problem is that it was shorter. I beat it in about 2 or 3 sittings in 3 days, and never had any desire to put it in my PS3 again. It sat untouched for a month before I ultimately sold it. That is not to say it is a bad game at all, in fact I actually had it at #2 before Infamous 2 came out, but there is just no replay value. You beat it once, and as perfect as the campaign is IMO, there is no reason to ever open the box again. Dead Space 2 was longer and had more replayability.

As for Red Dead Redemption and Infamous 2, I LOVE open world games. Honestly, I think open world is the superior format for story driven games, and would prefer a Red Dead ****game to Uncharted or Gears. I think all games should be open world. People seem to equate being linear with "cinematic experience" and that you cant have one without the other, and I think the 2 games in question destroy that arguement. Both games were cinematic, both games had strong character development, and the endings in both games were some of the strongest in any game Ive played this gen. The games also have ALOT of value for a single player game. Red Dead's campaign took me 18 hours, Infamous 2 between both karma paths took me 27 hours. Not to mention in Infamous 2 I have never been more driven to finish a game since the PSone days. Reviews aside, the gameplay is the most polished in any game ive seen this gen. Smootheness of transitioning from doing different things, Animations, special effects, diversity, production values etc. Red Dead also had alot of variety in terms of gameplay. Riding horses, shooting, hunting, skinning animals, finding herbs, etc. I will say that Red Dead has a bigger cast of developed characters than Infamous 2 does. Thats one reason I put it at #1. That and I just love the "rockstar feel" that R* has in its games. Anything R* makes is automatic GOTY status IMO.

Have not played it yet. Will be picking up the Complete Edition very shortly.

Fallout 3 (360 version). Its actually been like 2 years since I played this game, and I rented it. I loved the game, but theres not much I can say about it since its been so long since Ive played it, but it is definately up there. I plan on picking up New Vegas soon as well.

Why can't people wait till the generation is over? It's almost as bad as the "What is going to be goty 2013?" Threads.

Had fun with a lot of titles this gen..Mass effect series, bioshock series, geas of war series, alan wake, red dead redemption, dragon age origins second one stunk, oblivion was ok still play it from time to time. Lot of titles this gen where good plain fun..

As for Bioshock, I bought Bioshock 2 for $8 dollars used, played not even 1 hour of it and returned it the next day (ps3 version).

Thats how you know a game is bad when you pay $8 dollars for it and have buyers remorse :lol:. Have not played the first tho. Kind of feel like giving the game another chance.

This is actually hard for me. I have a lot of Games for this Generation and there really isn't one that I can definitely say is THE game of the Generation.

My favorite unmodded game of the generation would probably be Guild Wars. I wrote an entire thing in my blog if you want a long explanation.

My favorite modded game is Oblivion, this would have taken the top slot had the base game not been terrible. After fixing up the game it played awesome and gave me plenty of playtime. Then you have Nehrim, the best open world game since Gothic 2, and the upcoming prequel to the Elder Scrolls which looks to be another awesome game and add more value to my 8.50 Oblivion purchase.
