Mine would be Dragon Quest 11. Absolutely lost in the game. I won’t be playing RDR 2 until Christmas. Same with Smash.
It's definitely Dragon Quest 11 for me right now. I was expecting great things from this game but it has blown my expectations out of the water time and time again.

What is so good about DQ11. Looks like another modern JRPG trash honestly. Does it have a good story and gameplay. How much turn based combat repition is in that game? I usually grow tired pretty fast when i have to fight some rose sponges, blobs or alive carrots with Pokemon look for 100th times. And that normal monsters to fight usually appear on the hour 50 of gameplay.
Subnautica. The world, the lore and the atmosphere were just amazing. I usually don't like, actually I don't like, the games in survival genre but this was an exception. There was something truly special about subnautica which I can't describe in words but it made itself stand out of the oversaturated genre of survival games.
Right now I’d probably say Monster Hunter World. It should be noted though that I have not yet played the following games:
- Forza Horizon 4
- Red Dead Redemption 2
- Dragon Quest XI
Those games along with Super Smash Bros. Ultimate are ones that I consider to be the strongest contenders for my Game of the Year.
Still a bunch of games I haven't played, but it's easily Shadow of the Tomb Raider for me right now. I was completely satisfied with it.
If I don't count Mania Plus, then it's Yakuza Kiwami 2, which I give the edge over Y6 as it's more of a complete package. Valkyria Chronicles 4 is also a really strong contender since I've spent nearly 100 hours on it and that's without playing any of the DLC yet. I'll give RDR2 a mention too, but I'm still not far enough in the main story to properly rank it.

**** I have this game but I still haven't gotten to it.
RDR2, by a pretty wide margin.
Runners up (so far, in no particular order):
Subnautica
God of War
Kingdom Come Deliverance
Pillars of Eternity II
Forza Horizon 4
Red Dead 2, followed closely by Forza Horizon 4.
This totally. Both excellent games at the top of their genre. Odyssey comes in close third for me though. Next year Cybperunk 2077 or Metro Exodus will be put through the tests for Goty.
@n64dd:
My current contenders....
Shadow of the Tomb Raider
Red Dead Redemption 2
Spiderman Ps4
They're real neck and neck at the moment. Red Dead Redemption 2 might win and I haven't finished it yet.
Red Dead Redemption 2. I've been playing it daily since launch day and I'm still discovering new things tucked away in its world. I've also started a second story playthrough to play as a bad guy.
Already in terms time spent red dead 2 has to take it. Far cry 5 was enjoyable but red dead has me gripped.
I dunno, too many games, still got smash on the way.
Ones that stick out for me that released 2018 that I played,
Celeste
Fighter z
Frostpunk
Octopath
Spiderman
Those are my top 5, but to be honest I've been catching up on my backlog, I got my switch this year so Zelda and Mario and bayoneta got a lot of playtime, but those games are 2017

......if 2077 hits next year, highly doubtful.
