Lets have a little mature conversation for a change.

People say "oh, if you just own a wii, you'll be missing out on games on the xbox 360 and ps3", if youre a real hardcore gamer, as you say you are, then would you be missing out on games on the wii, as well if your downing it and claiming its just a casual console.

We know the wii caters to casual gamers, but the wii also cater to core gamers also. How long can you say "i will not buy a wii, because it only has casual games?", its evident that the wii is slowly and steadly growing a large assortment of core gamers, the latest announcement being dragon quest 10.

i look at the wii's future line up and i can think of only wonderful things. i know the graphics for the wii is slighly lacking, but its not lacking to a point where you can't play or enjoy the games. I mean i know most of you people own a xbox 360 and ps3, but still go back to play some old games from past. I mean this gen has taught me that gaming of today still can't messure up to the creativity of past, with all its graphical intensity.

(To most real hardcore gamers, i mean the ones who wasn't born a few years ago, meaning the ones who was born in the 80's, lived through the arcade/console era and seen the many graphical evolution of consoles. The ones who still can appreciate pixel animation.)

The wii like the nintendo Ds did, is slowly growing its libary. It took the Ds a while to garner up original content for that system and when it took off, boy couldn't nothing stop it. We had a lot of shockers from that portable, things we didnt expect at all.

Looking at the wii, its libary is growing faster and faster. The fact that its offering original content beyond first person shooters, should appeal to those who are drowned out by shooters who looking for a little change of pace. You remember the time when the market wasn't so full of shooters and what really mattered was fresh new gaming experiences? sure you didn't, because most people here were too young to remember.

anyway, my question is....

What is your reason not to get a wii, knowing the libary of core gaming is growing and getting better? (including games on wiiware service) if you say it has no games that intrest you, then i want you to provide the type of games your intrested in.

I don't own a Wii but a number of my friends do... The only time i enjoy playing it is when we're drinking and there's a fair few people to challenge. I just can't see myself playing a lot of the casual games on my own... although the few core games they have, those i could play

see well thats what i meant. people are trying to find reasons to avoid playing or owning a wii based on the casual games on the system, with out giving any note worthy games on the system a chance. it shocks me when people say "only thing on the wii worthy playing is by nintend", which isn't true.

I owned a Wii and sold it. I just don't think the library is interesting at all. Sure, there are some fun titles but there really isn't anything in their lineup that can sustain my interest. I've been without it for more than a year and have not regretted selling it at all. It's great that they offer a different choice and it's successful, but it isn't for me.

Because I don't like the games, simple as that. Same with the other 2 consoles, I would rather have a huge library and not have to worry about if companies are gonna hand me good games when I can just play one I have with mods which has as much content as 3x-4x console games at the least...

I have a Wii. The only reason I haven't got rid of it is because my sister plays it. I don't play it at all. I've spent less than 15 hours playing it since I've had it and I've had it for a little over a year. I don't like the Wii mote at all. Can't think of any time where I enjoyed playing with it. I'd rather play the GC version of Twilight Princess and Brawl is best played with the GC controller.

This pretty much sums my thoughts up.I can see the Wii has potential, and games like Madworld and LKS look good.

But I'm looking at playing games like KZ2,RE5 and Empire:Total war this year, and without sounding like an eletist snob, the Wii's line-up just doesn't appeal to me nearly as much as the PS3/Pc lineup.

Certainly not enough to pay £200,when I could get the superior 360 for less.

My reason: I already have a PS3.

And a friend of mine has a Wii, so I get to play the only 2 games that I like from the Wii which are Metroid and Brawl.

I would consider to buy one for DQX though.

I had a Wii from launch, sold it just before xmas during the shortages, almost got what I paid for it. The Wii was ok as a supplement to my 360 but if the Wii was the only console I had I think it would of made me stop playing games all together (which would be good and bad, lol). The only two games I enjoyed at all were Mario Galaxy and Zelda TP, well actually even though Galaxy was platforming to perfection I got bored of it once I beat the story. So yeah, even if it's to supplement a PS3 or 360 i'd say it's not worth it unless your really young and like all kinds of **** games because you don't know any better.

I have one and unless you have some odd gaming taste or like japanese games outside of nintendo's then I'd suggest not buying one. I haven't used mine in AGES, I mean I don't use my consoles that much anyway but lately I bought some 360 games and a ps3 game, but I couldn't find one thing on the wii that I would play

so you wouldnt buy a wii, knowing the about what it has to offer with its future titles. personal speaking, i didnt really care for the wii a back in 2007, metroid prime and mario galaxy sparked my intrest. What got me interesting was when i followed its announcement of games and the fact that i been kind of disappointed with the offering of this gen.

well looking at your sig, you seem to be a pc gamer, as i am. it seems like the wii is a perfect fit for people who are pc gamers, who want to get into console gaming. I think the wii offers so much more with the controller over the ps3 and xbox 360, but thats just my opinion.

I got a wii and smg as a gift for christmas even though I been happy with those games there's not really that many games that interest me and it's kinda embarassing walking to the wii section of stores seeing a whole bunch of shovelware like wii imagine babiez and wii pet horses and so many kiddie games the wii does give you a good workout I find myself sweating with wii sports so that's a plus :) and games like smg and metroid are awesome I just wished theyd stop it with the shovelware and put more good games.

Well, I've owned one, played all the games that interested me (particularly many gamecube games I had missed out on last generation), and sold it after the drought that was 2008 (and the prospects for the future, which weren't - and aren't - so bright). I do commend it for proportionating me the great experience that was Super Mario Galaxy.

Better question I often ask myself: Why do I own a Wii?

It just doesn't have a high steady frequency of games that I care to play (first party or otherwise). Sure there are some things that I look forward to but again they're so spread out that I can't help but find the system disappointing.

The controls feel gimmicky with the exception of a few games that really puts the Wiimote to good use. Plus, a lot of the good games can be played just as well, if not better, on a GC controller.

There aren't enough games that interest me.

I thought Brawl was such a letdown compared to Melee.

we'll thats why you have to actually go to game stores, rather than toys R us and k mart. The wii does have a heavy amount of shovelware, but behind all of that, it also has good games. Another thing people think that the wii software ends on the shelf. wiiware is another great area for wii gaming.

I like good graphics and gaming on an HDTV, also the wiimote doesn't appeal to me. I've played it a couple times at a friend's house and that was enough for me.

Also I don't see any games coming to the wii that are a must have. Just my Opinion , On my PS3 I get to play Killzone 2, RE:5, SF:4, GOW3, GT4, Dead Space, Warhawk, GTA4, LBP, MGS4 etc. really the lists for 360 and PS3 crush whatever ports and shovelware that the wii throws at you. I do acknowledge there are probably some good games on the wii (enough to count on one hand) but those games aren't a MUST HAVE.

Thing is alot of the "note worthy" games on the Wii (not by nintendo) I have already played on a PS2 or a GC(okami, tales of symphonia). From my perspective the Wii seems to have a hand full of good casual games (brawl, galaxy, world of goo etc.) an abysmally few amount of games geared for mature audiences (harvey birdman, no more heroes etc.), a bunch of cheesy ports and a suffocating number of cheap carnival shovel-ware. Most people I know who've bought one it was for their kids, while that's not the entire market for it, that's what Nintendo has been marketing to for the most part....in that sense people who enjoy mature game should feel left out...the games geared for them are few and far between compared to any other platform.

Recently I got gears 2, ninja gaiden 2 and fifa 09 for x360

I got GTA 4 for ps3, lost my 360 version, not to mention GTA 4 imo looks and plays better on ps3, I dunno why but it does.

thats the thing. if you expect a similar experience on your console, then the wii isnt for you. I play games all all the systems. i played mostly the games, thats been hyped up to be great. i hated metal gear, played that. i hate most console first person shooters, yet i gave them a try. what i realize is most games arent any different from the other on the HD consoles. i guess im more attached to games thats quirky and different from norm, which is why i think the wii is a great experience. Then again im a old school gamer. All i know is that whats consider to be popular gaming thats on the HD consoles just doesn't do it for me.

I agree with you TC. The Wii is taking the same route as the DS. The DS was once seen as a useless system but look at it now. The same will occur with the Wii infact its on track to be the breakout year for the console with games like Madworld, Little Kings Story, The Conduit, Sin and Punishment 2 and Punchout etc. Sure there are always going to be haters, but a lot of them will be eating their words when they plunker down the money to buy the system b/c of the awesome software it will recieve in the near future. HD gaming is bit overrated if you ask me.

[QUOTE="Rahnyc4"][QUOTE="lundy86_4"]I don't own a Wii but a number of my friends do... The only time i enjoy playing it is when we're drinking and there's a fair few people to challenge. I just can't see myself playing a lot of the casual games on my own... although the few core games they have, those i could playIlikemyname420
see well thats what i meant. people are trying to find reasons to avoid playing or owning a wii based on the casual games on the system, with out giving any note worthy games on the system a chance. it shocks me when people say "only thing on the wii worthy playing is by nintend", which isn't true.

Most people I know who've bought one it was for their kids, while that's not the entire market for it, that's what Nintendo has been marketing to for the most part....in that sense people who enjoy mature game should feel left out...the games geared for them are few and far between compared to any other platform.

that tales of symponia is a sequal, which isnt on the ps2, if im not mistaken. why should people who enjoy mature game feel left out? the wii is a good amound of teen-mature games. i would say thats far step up above the gamecube. the future line up of these mature games are also getting bigger.

Better question I often ask myself: Why do I own a Wii?

It just doesn't have a high steady frequency of games that I care to play (first party or otherwise). Sure there are some things that I look forward to but again they're so spread out that I can't help but find the system disappointing.

I guess you like simplicity better too.

It really is taste....getting a 'hardcore' gamer to play most wii games would be like getting a horror movie buff to watch Bollywood musicals.

I have one and unless you have some odd gaming taste or like japanese games outside of nintendo's then I'd suggest not buying one. I haven't used mine in AGES, I mean I don't use my consoles that much anyway but lately I bought some 360 games and a ps3 game, but I couldn't find one thing on the wii that I would play

.

Espada12

and what have you been playing on the ps3 and xbox 360, if you dont mind me asking.

Recently I got gears 2, ninja gaiden 2 and fifa 09 for x360

I got GTA 4 for ps3, lost my 360 version, not to mention GTA 4 imo looks and plays better on ps3, I dunno why but it does.

so your into mature games, excluding fifa 09. youre saying theres nothing on the wii, that would appeal to you? all guns aside.
