http://blog.us.playstation.com/2010/04/22/watch-major-league-baseball-on-ps3-mlb-tv-app-live-today/

I mean what is the appeal of watching Baseball via myPS3 instead of myCable box?

Im not a subscriber to MLB but there is a game on TV everyday.

The funny part people can switch from game to tv on thier remote control

I guess the remote play feature is a good one.

PSP107

Hmmm, let's see what's on offer.

  • MLB Scoreboard – See a schedule of today's games (and set options to control whether or not you see the scores)
  • Home and Away Feeds – Choose to watch either the home or away broadcast feed
  • HD quality video and DVR functionality – watch a live game in HD (with Live Game DVR functionality that lets you pause and rewind live games of fast-forward back to live game action)
  • Season Archive – Want to re-live a great moment? Go back and watch games you've missed from earlier in the season.
  • Scrollable Linescore – Go directly to any half-inning to watch only that portion of the game.
  • Favorite Teams/Calendar Schedule – Scroll through the entire 2010 Major League Baseball schedule in calendar format or designate your favorite team(s) to see the schedule for that team.

Can your cable box do all that? Do you even get every game? Did you even read your own link?

It's not for me, but pretty cool for those that love baseball.

do not forget these also

You must be an MLB.TV subscriber to fully utilize this app (some features, such as the calendar schedule, are available to everyone for free). There are two annual packages: MLB.TV is $99.95 and MLB.TV Premium is $119.95

local blackout restrictions do apply

It's a lot cheaper than the comparable service that is offered via Direct TV, so that's probably why. Man, Sony loves them some baseball eh? As far as whether or not you'd want, I'd imagine that depends on whether or not (or how much) you like baseball.

Yeah, I agree, but I think baseball was a good choice for an app since some people (not saying a lot, just some) may have chosen the PS3 just for the MLB __ The Show games.

As a Yankee fan living in New England, MLB.TV has been a must have for me for the past 3 years. I would watch every game I could on my notebook. It's nice to be able to watch YES Network games on the big screen now.....or any other game I want for that matter. MLB.TV is not pointless, its just pointless for you.

but the TV/Cable/Satellite does NOT show you every single game thats gonna happen so ergo the MLB App. But only for subscribers for the website(I think)

Stop being so ignorant. Baseball has more fans than any sport besides Soccer and American Football....and as I stated earlier, I can't watch my teams games daily because I'm not living in New York anymore since I now reside in New England.

More like Baseball has more fans then NFL, NASCAR, NBA, Soccar and UFC. Heck the only thing keeping the NHL from passing them ios the lockout a few years ago...

Just about every Red Sox game is on TV here anyway so I don't really care about watching other teams. I suppose if your favorite team was out of market or if you played fantasy baseball and wanted to watch your players it would be good. If I paid for that I would just watch it on my PC though so I could do other stuff as well, instead of being tied down....I love baseball but just watching a whole game can get boring, why not be able to browse SW while watching. An NFL one would be sick though.

I couldn't care less about this app because I couldn't care less about watching baseball.

Playing baseball? That's fun and exciting. Watching it on the other hand is about as entertaining as watching grass grow.

Yes because that cable box can access every sinlge MLB game airing that day :| ... personally I think it's awesome, but totally useless because I'm not willing to drop a chunck of money on a membership.

Checked it out for a little and it's well presented and organized, also some games are viewed in HD, they also have previous games saved for viewing ... Gosh I wish I had the money to get a membership

Lol, baseball. I'm not much of a fan these days. I catch all the highlights of some games on Sportscenter. Make it Football or Tennis and I'll be somewhat interested.
