Anyway Half-Life 2 all the way. :)
I pick GTA 3 as the game of the decade. not because i think its the best game, but because it defines the decade. the over the top violent games. the beginning of almost infinite freedom in a game. Truly innovative when it came out. One of the highest rated games. Very controversial and violent like alot of games during this decade.
I say GTA 3 represents the decade well.jg4xchamp
Very well put. I agree.
Even though we're nowhere done with this decade just yet...
No other game basically revived interest in an overlooked genre, became a cultural phenomenon in several countries, made as much money, is talked about as much and has become a source of study in online gaming practises as WoW.
Either FFX or KOTOR.
FFX was amazing for its time. Back it 2001 the graphic were amazing and they still look good. It was agruably the first "true" 3D Final Fantasy, where everything was 3D. Voice acting was making it debut in FF and in most games overall. It's voice acting truely brought you closer and emersed you in the game. The story was honestly only competes with MGS. It truely amazing Plot twist all over the place. The story made you laugh and cry and rejoyce, It was truely a sad and emotional story. Thing like the amazing cutscence(Beyond comparison for its time) and voice-acting and improve graphics added to this making it emersive like a movie. The gameplay was good and the game had hard boss battles taht would make you throw things at you TV(AKA Airship Battle).. While it was linear, It was long linear and had more then enough gameplay. Blitzball it again arguablly the best minigame ever....Hell I would buy a Blitzball game.
KOTOR offered everthing. State of the art graphics on Xbox that made all other game pale. It neat cutomization in making your exile , allowing them to craft hundred of different lighsaber and armor or just to use a reliable blaster. It introduced many opertunities to gain party members, some smugglers, jedi, or even asssassin droid that refer to humans as "Organic Meatbags" It story was engaging and had one of the largest plot twists since FFVII. It battl system was smotth and didn't get old. It truely give you the feeling "WOW, The Star Wars universe is huge"

Exactaly my thoughts. You have to go with the original Halo for how it changed the gaming world in general. No game has had a greater impact on the industry than Halo.SkyCastleDan
It changed the console world. The PC world was completely unaffected.
This question is too vague. People overall are going to say World of Warcraft due to the multi-player aspect wich adds much, much more value to a game. So since I can't choose.....
FPS -Timesplitters 2 (PS2)
Action - Metal Gear Solid 2 (PS2)
Adventure - Okami (PS2)
Platformer - Ratchet and Clank: Up Your Arsenal (PS2)
Strategy - Phantom Dust (X-Box)
Multi-Player - Halo 2 (X-Box)
