Are today's PC's already ahead of what we will see from the Xbox 720 and PS4, or will PC's be playing catch up for a year? Will consoles step up the RAM to 4 GB or what?Taylorgc2004Wouldn't they go higher then 4 gigs of RAM, I mean my computer has that and it's not even a gaming PC so I don't see why consoles can't og much higher
Sadly I wouldn't be suprised if the companies took the Wii route next gen and make a low-power console.ganon546

Even gaming pcs only tend to have 4gb of ram. The cpu and gpu determine whether its a gaming pc or not. I actually think that the high-end enthusiasts cards that are out right now are already too expensive for the games companies to use as final specs for the next gen consoles. Now is about the time they will be doing this aswell. I doubt very much they will be using anything like a GTX295 or a 4870. So with that said, by the time consoles are released yet again they will already be behind what pc gaming offers in terms of power!

I'm just saying, in X amount of years I'd assume they'd go even higher.... but I don't really know to much about hardware specifications so I guess I really shouldn't say anything :P
Not too much better than what there currently is. Devs costs are already sky high.Espada12You are right. And the intelligent thing for them to do would be making this generation last a couple of years longer than usual.
Technology is always ever-accelerated and never improve in incremented rates. - learn this from michael crichton:cry: RIP....
Anyways, next gen specs will be a bigger leap in hardware than the leap from PS2 to PS3. I think it'll have a seemingly much more powerful tech than those that will be on the market by whatever year it is the consoles will debut. Much higher RAM is a must.
