I mean....this is all I hear xbox fans saying "you still don't have cross game chat!" So? You do realize 360 and PS3 are made for different audiences right? I mean The Xbox 360 has basically turned into a social gaming console. Don't get me wrong cross game chat is a nice feature so is party chat but.... It's definitely not worth paying 50 a year for. That is what I gain by paying from xbox live being a PS3 and Wii owner. PSN is free Wii network is free. Every online gaming service is free except Xbox live. With PS3 I get dedicated servers, online gameplay, deals every now and then with the PSN store, I get Video chat, web browser, etc. So as opposed to what I get on PSN for free paying for xbox live all I would gain is cross game chat and party chat. As a gamer why do I give a crap about that? LMAO And with PSN plus I am only paying for extra content not the right to PLAY ONLINE with 360 if you don't pay for live you get a very limited xbox experience. So I'm trying to wrap my mind around why these features are so important, I guess I'm just not a social gamer

It's a convenient feature. Just something very nice to have, because that way Live users can talk with their friends no matter what they are doing on their Xbox's.

Listing a bunch of features you will never understand. XBL greatest feature over PSN is its seamless integration into the console. Everything works with everything else. There is no updating multiple times to patch problems with firmware blocking certain games. XBL is integrated into the console and its games, whether they are single player or not. So, if you narrow it down to feature set, then of course you wouldnt understand. Having both, the differences are clear.

I have had both and right until I sold my xbox every time I bought a new game I had to update for that SPECIFIC game. So yes there is multiple updating. When I wanted to play a H.264 video file I had to update. smh xbox live is a racket.

It's a really nice feature to have, but if you don't have it, what more can I say? I miss the fact that we cannot even cross game chat, because when I see a buddy online, I hate having to stop my game just to chat with him.

The H.264 came in their bi-annual updates. When a game itself has an update, that's a different story. When the system is update, Xbox gets two updates a year. The games can be updated when the developers see fit. PS3 games get updated too, I know Uncharted is on it's 1.08 update, and LBP has gone through several updates as well. Point is, today's games get updated, especially if they have online components like MP.

you are talkin about game patches, im talkin about firmware updates. Often times when a firmware updates on PS3, there are problems with other games. This is because the firmware has to be made to work with every game, as opposed to XBL where every game has to work with the service. that way when changes are made to the system, every game still works. But im sure you know what i meant ;)

1) Those updates are very rare 2) Updates on XBL takes like 20-30 secs MAX. What was your gamertag since someone will inevitably ask for proof and I might as well do it? :P

Cross Game Chat is nothing special at all. The Party System is a great feature for the hardcore online player as it makes it so much easier to organize and jump in and out of games on the fly with your friends. It's still not worth XBL Gold's price though.

The fact that PSN doesn't have it already makes it great to many people on these boards. :P

Seriously though, try it and you'll see. Better than using skype while playing SCII because Blizzard removed the chat rooms.

I can see why it's good. I don't have a 360 so I can't really say but I understand why you would get it instead of talking on the phone. You can meet friends over Xbox live but not feel like giving away your number. Some people like to keep their gaming/online persona apart from the real life image. 8)

well for one if you have friends who have xbox live its a perfect way to talk to them while you're both playing different games.

i have real life friends who play xbox live so this feature is really great for me and my buddies.

i cross-game chat every time i get on live.

i guess im just a social person :)

That's the problem I have. I have no need for the great feature although I'm sure you and many others do.

On PSN, there is no option for cross game chat/party chat for people who want to use it like you, but for people who just want to play online multiplayer, it works great.

On XBL, people who want to chat with friends anytime have the option to do so (and if they feel the $50 a year is worth it, fine. No harm, no foul. Glad you're getting your getting your money's worth), but for people who just want to play against opponents that aren't AI bots (bascially me with the exception of playing RB online with my friends sometimes, which works perfectly fine on PSN), the $50 just doesn't seem worth (I am currently subscribed to XBL Gold, and I don't feel like it's worth it, but I choose not to care that much about it since I'm definitely going to need it to play Reach lol).

The point is, both services really could offer more options to consumers (Playstation offering cross game chat/party chat for a small fee, XBL offering free MP along with all the standard features that free PSN comes with).

Of course the 360 definitely has faster updates and XBL is basically integrated into all aspects of the system, but I'm fine with having slower updates on PSN if it means I don't have to pay $50 annually.

On paper XBL is definitely better than PSN, but when you consider the features as different games, not everyone plays the same types of games (just like not everyone will use for the same features).

Those are just my views on the XBL/PSN debate though.

Bored cause I don't have a 360 (or Ps3 for a matter of fact)? YES. Excited because I have a job and that's going to be one of the first things I buy? YES. Plus I can finally get internet on my wii so I'm happy for the moment. Gameplay vids suffice. Or is this a play on my name? I can't tell? :P

I never said it was only for the hardcore gamer. I said it is a great feature for the hardcore online gamer. I personally use my consoles for gaming and not for their multimedia features so, partying up to watch movies etc and so forth doesn't mean anything to me.

ok what about the super slow PSN network compared to xbox live, I guess you dont mind waiting 4 x's longer than I do when we are downloading the same demo, you on PS3 me on LIVE

Sorry, but my download speeds are the same. The 360 is slightly faster because of the minute or two install after the download but all these people who say they'll spend two minutes for 360 and 20 minutes for the PS3 have something wrong with their connections or are using wireless for the PS3 and eternet for the 360 IMO.

The point is, both services really could offer more options to consumers (Playstation offering cross game chat/party chat for a small fee, XBL offering free MP along with all the standard features that free PSN comes with).

If Live included free multiplayer with silver, do you really think anyone would pay $50 a year for Gold? People keep saying cross-game chat is so great, but would anyone really pay $50 a year for it, if they didn't have to pay it just to play online?

[QUOTE="blackgamer1213"][QUOTE="93soccer"] It's not JUST for the hardcore. My friend's and I just get together in a party, rent a movie on Zune and watch it together all the while laughing and commenting on the movie. It's a great feature that you won't understand how great it is until you tried itnavyguy21

How many times do I have to say it? I just got rid of my 360 2 months ago. Those "features" are not worth 50 dollars maybe to you. And I had plenty of friends on xbox live.

You got rid of your xbox 2 months ago, yet was active on XBL 14 hours ago?

Friend's gamertag confirmed??

Yeah, I should have been more specific with the small fee lol. Maybe about $10 to $15 annually and definitely the price of XBL Gold would have to be lowered to price match. Personally I wouldn't even pay that much for cross game chat, but if people like it as much as they claim they do, I think they would pay.
