While there aren't that many XBL users(less than 50 percent of the userbase),around 4-5 million users, but a lot more total users in comparison to the PS3, I like both services. Sony still hasn't rolled out their entire online program, and they need to solidify their solution quickly.
To the person saying that Sony is arrogant, well, if you don't think MS is as well, you need to get your head checked.
The overwhelming advantage to XBL is the Arcade. Doom was a great addition, and every couple of weeks, more and more titles come out. It's great, and I play way more on the Arcade than actual games purchased at the store. Catan was just recently released, which is a hardcore board game over in Germany, and it's my favorite game on the 360, plus it's made by Big Huge Games, the dev's behind some of the greatest PC games, like Rise of Nations and Rise of Legends.
Until Sony comes out with a comparitive arcade library, XBLA will be king on consoles, especially with all the great devs chipping in to release their games over XBLA. On the other hand, it shouldn't cost 50 bucks a year, as we already have to pay for the games, and not to mention, it's P2P and NOT dedicated online play. Sony's got the right idea as far as free online gaming, which is what I've been used to my entire life.
