Is it worth $50 a year....right now, IMO, yes.
If PSN Home hits and its all its hyped to be, and they make the updates to the PSN store that they are planning on, and it remains free, then, IMO, no.
I have over 20 friends to game with.
I can't play Halo and Gears without it.
Everything is organized nicely.
There are features like:
- excellent friend support (ability to see when they are on, see what they've played, join games they are in, etc...)
- largest library of downloads and such
- ability to record and send voice/video clips to friends
- best professionality and it's the best developed
- best opportunity for a lag free games (fast internet = zero lag)
- built in voice support
etc...
It's not worth 50$, but right now, it's easily the best and fullest online experience availble.

Well that's a matter of oppinion. Personally I still think split screen gaming trumps online gaming when it comes to friends.
I've had great times with both :D, but as far as online play is concerned XBL has things like a universal friend's list and cross game invites/messaging/chats that make it more friend oriented than PSN.[QUOTE="cecx"]If you have friends it's worth it.Shazenab

I didn't know you could play splitscreen with someone over 10 miles away

I agree even if you met them online and don't know them personally I've met a lot of cool people that I love to play with, friends are one of the only reasons I go on LIVE

I hate sharing my screen. It makes some games/types nearly impossible to play unless you have a huge screen.
Its no big deal.
4 bucks a month isn't that bad.
Sure I would like it to be free and still be the same service it is today, but its not going to keep from having alot cool features that are organized.

Not trying to compare e-peens or anything, but I have more friends than that on my PSN friends list, and we play games together all the time.
Nothing I've seen convinces me that the $50 is worth paying.
the online actually works and most games have dedicated servers
Off-topic - you're either talking about PSN or PC. The OP was asking about Xbox Live and paying for p2p networking. Look it up.
