Do you think MGS4is a possibility... it doesn't have to be gamespot. aka_aj03
This has already been debated. Spore is the one that has the absolute highest ceiling. Doesn't mean that the game will deliver, it just means that if possibility is what you are concerned with, this game is a must.
Most likely none. Perfect score masterpieces like Ocarina of Time and now GTA IV is pretty rare. Though if I would have to guess, maybe spore? But I don't think it'll happen twice a year.
it doesn't have to be gamespot. aka_aj03
Then expect about 20 more 10/10's from OXM alone.
If we're talking about sites that actually matter,I can't see anything esle scoring a 10 to be honest. Maybe MGS4.
IMO, I think GTAIV IGN rating was overrated, they rated the graphics 10, I mean wtf??
now that's what they called next gen good looking graphics??
Anyway, the next big thing would have to be MGS4, and based on those 2 previews:
IGN: http://ps3.ign.com/articles/863/863825p1.html
GamePro: http://www.gamepro.com/sony/ps3/games/previews/173848.shtml
MGS4 will get alot of 10s and I think you will be surprised when GameSpot will be one of those to give it a perfect 10.
[QUOTE="AgentH"]well it looks good in motion.IMO, I think GTAIV IGN rating was overrated, they rated the graphics 10, I mean wtf??

And in the context of an open world environment. With all the things that go along with that. Interacting the AI, physics.....
But all consoles have done less then I expected so far. If Gears of War 2 features everything they claim it will that is about what I would have expected first gen games to look like for the 360 and ps3.

Yup, there's more to the graphics and presentation than textures. For a sandbox game, it's a beauty.
I can see MGS4 getting a 10 out of 10 at most of the sites since it just seems to be the icing on the cake and supposedly the big game that all the great MGS games have been leading up to. Previews have been great, from what I have seen it looks to be delivering on that end from gameplay previews. I don't see RE5 getting it since I think it will be more like RE4 but with nicer graphics. But wait isn't that MGS4? I think they changed teh gameplay around a lot more in MGS4 than RE5. Still to early to tell on that one, but I don't see that for RE5 yet. Any other games......nope, I can't see any right now console wise.NoShenanigans
Yep, true man. MGS4 gameplay dramatically evolved comparing to previous MGS games, not mentioning the revamped controls that seems to work better much better according to the latest previous. The uncompressed sound in the game seems to be the best in video game's history as mentioned in the GamePro preview. It's the first game and might be the only game to use 50 GB of storage on a Blu Ray disk. This game is huge and based on its history I can't see why MGS4 won't get straight 10s including from this site!

If you're talking about the graphics, I don't think GeOW2 will have a HUGE leap over GeOW1 as the latter did when it first came out in 2006. Gears 2 sure will look fantastic but not as Gears 1 was when it first came out. I hope you understand what I am saying.

Last I checked this sight would only give out a 10 to a perfect game. No game will ever be perfect. IGN specifically stated that to them a 10 does not equal perfect. It is a game that pushes a genre forward.
But I am jealous of all the MG fans. I have never had a game that I was so sure would be the best thing since sliced bread, no matter how big of a fan I am. I wish I had that much blind faith, I have this thing about playing them first. Call me crazy.

Not happening. Bigger =/= better. 9.5 tops! The game's visuals haven't lived up to the hype, either.

I do and I agree. It's like when they released Lost Planet on PS3 the other month, it was one of the best looking games when it came out on 360, but it's aged even in just a year or so. GeOW 2 will have improvements, but from what I've heard mainly just physics and destructible things.

I do but all the stuff they are adding, and just the screens of the re-done MP maps, are insane. If they get that many enemy's on screen and have fully destructible environments and can keep it at a locked 30fps at least. It will blow the first Gears out of the water.
For me getting a 10/10 would have to be a game that is completely revolutionary, something we haven't seen before. That being said anything with a 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 next to its name makes it impossible for me to be deserving of a 10/10. That being said the only thing I can think of that i've previewed that might be coming out this year is Spore, it will be a completely revolutionary game with the possibility to show us something never seen before on any platform.

Read carefully what IGN, GamePro, PSM3 etc... said about the visuals. They clearly said, screenshots and trailers released so far for this game do not do this game justice. They said it looks amazing when it's actually running in front of your eyes on the PS3.
Quote from GamePro's preview:
The graphics: You thought Gears of War looked amazing? Think again. Metal Gear Solid 4 will blow you away with its ultra-detailed characters and intricate environments, painting some of the most gorgeous graphics seen this side of Crysis. In motion, the graphics look so realistic that your eyes begin to register the visuals as a movie rather than a game. From what we saw, MGS4 puts its 50GB Blu-ray disc to outstanding use.
Never did a MGS game disappoint when it came to graphics!

I don't hold others opinions too high, especially when some of these individuals said GT5 was around Crysis quality. It's average looking. GTA IV looks far more impressive to me when I take in its open city structure.

GTAIV got a 10! It has loads of things we haven't seen before like for instance:
Stealing cars, shooting people randomly, buying weapons, screwing hookers, enhanced graphics etc...
Seeing as how there has only been one ten in the history of GS. I would say, most likely GTA. Proably nothing else.

...? Soul Calibur didn't exist them I assume, neither did Tony Hawk 2 or Ocarina of Time?
It was Tony Hawk 3 (although 2 did get a 9.9) and Chrono Cross got a 10 as well. Those are the only four.
Banjo 3, Resident Evil 5, Ninja Gaiden 2, Gears 2 etc.Aljosa23
yup.
also, mgs 4 will be good, but, the online kinda flopped so that may taek ti down to 9ish.

The online is great. The subsistence online boosted the score of MGS3 by .5 in fact :P
The online versions of MGS have been highly rated so far, and they're significantly inferior versions of MGO on the PS3.

MGS4 and MGO are going to be reviewed separately! Plus, it's a BETA, can't judge it now! Each BETA has its own problems. Bear that in mind. Moreover, MGS success never been because of its online. The online in MGS is new.

Don't take this the wrong way, I love the GTA series but there is no way GTA IV deserved a perfect and I haven't even played it. It will just be completely rehashed, it will look great, there will be a great story, have great mini games, etc and it will be extremely fun to play but we all know it will be just a new version of GTA 3

I was being sarcastic. :P
