So I've just been wondering that. I thought, personally, that I got my money's worth (especially since I bought one of the no longer being made 60gb versions), but I'd like to know why. Would people buy a PS3 if the following happened:

Price: reduced to $350
Memory: 80gb
HDMI capable
Wifi capable
Comes with Rumble-pack SIXAXIS
Removed internal Blu-Ray player
Removed compact flash ports

Would you buy this version of the PS3? Or would the console's current roster of games still deter you anyway? I mean, unlike the 360, PS3's definately have a good track record of not breaking, or getting anything similar to the RROD, that counts for something, doesn't it?

The only reason I would EVER, EVER, EVER even THINK about buying a PS3 is MGS4. That's it.

Price and worse library than 360. Also the unecessary blu-ray. I just feel uneasy paying for a console where the majority of the money I'm paying for is going towards something I don't want.

1) the price of the console

2) lack of games, even if the game is both for the 360 and ps3 most likely the 360 version comes out first.

If the PS3 were $400 i would have one right now. As it stands, i'm not paying $600 for Resistance and Warhawk. I don't want Bluray either...so the extra $200 being tacked on the price for it is a joke imo.

Umm if you took out the Blu-Ray player, it couldn't play any games since they are all on BR discs...think man.

Its wayyy over priced for a game console. Not many people are willing or able to play that much money for a game system. Also they really dont have anough good games to warrent a purchase. If they get the price down to a reasonable level and show me some games worth having then yes ill definatly pick one up.

The steep price was the main problem at first, but the lack of appealing games would still hold me back for now even if it was reduced to 350. And yeah, I'll admit that I've never had any problems with either the ps1 or 2, but m$ has really stood behind the 360 and gave me no problems about replacing the system when the red lights came up.

Anyhow I'm glad to see Sony getting punished for their arrogance, maybe this will get them to clean up their act.

By the time Killer apps come out for the PS3 it'll be cheaper, probably have Rumble Sixaxis included and the current AA titles that arent killer apps will probably be cheaper aswell.

Opalescent

I don't buy a PS3 for the fact that its games don't interest me and those that do have been available on other platforms long before.

Take away the BR?

Sir, Blu-Ray is the only reason to buy a PS3 over a Wii or 360 right now?

PS3 can't and wouldn't be the same without it.

I wouldn't buy a PS3 without BR coz then it would'nt play PS3 GAMES!
