The PS3 does not have a more impressive line-up of announced RPGs than the 360. The 360 has, off the top of my head Blue Dragon, Mass Effect, Eternal Sonata, Lost Odyssey, Infinate Undiscovery, Fable 2 and Cry On. A lot of these are 07 releases too. Cows have a habit of living in the past and thinking this generation will be exactly the same as last generation even when all evidence suggests otherwise.Paktahn
I know that, but I'm waiting to be proven wrong. More importantly, I don't think there are any rpg's coming out for the PS3 this year, that you couldn't play on the 360 last year.
Nothing really
360 has
Mass Effect
Bioshock
Lost Odyssey
Two Worlds
Overlord
Elveon
Blue Dragon
Eternal Sonata
And starting 2008
Cry On
Infinite Undiscovery
Fable 2
Ah yes let the waiting continueNugtokaAbout waiting? Let put this in propective please. Thos games you say that's coming out will be in 2007-2008, right? The 360 launch in 2005, right? Now if PS3 waited for a list RPG in 2008, and was release in 2006? Tell me, how does that looks bad with the PS3, if it's the same time frame?

That still doesn't answer my question. All you saying is you getting RPG in 2007. The question was Lemmings had to wait over a year to get a strong line-up of RPGs, but when a PS3 owner has to wait a year for a strong list of RPGs, it's a bad thing. How does that make sense? I personal don't think all the RPGs you list for the Xbox will be great RPGs either.[QUOTE="nnavidson"]About waiting? Let put this in propective please. And its not exactly the fastest thing in the world developing an RPG, it'll take a while after launch for multiple reasons. No it is on Sony they give approval for games, just like Microsoft approved Blue Dragon, Lost Odyseey, Cry On, Infinite Discovery, and Trusty Bell. Sony should have gotten some RPG's in their pipeline for 2007. If Sony is going to use that tactic like last gen they will lose. The PS2 and PS1 were industry leading consoles for the install base, thus developers had no choice but to put games on PS2. Not the case this year, Sony cannot sit back and WAIT for developers to come to them, there are other options available. Sony needs to change the way they do business, from market leader to third place and approach its business as such. But do you expect playstation fans to bail on White Night Story and 2 Final Fantasy games for the 360s jrpgs ?Heck no. Level 5 is making WKS and they are arguably the best rpg developer right now. Plus FF 13 will be a AAA worldwide blockbuster. Thats a given. I think people get Playstation owners with playstation fans. Last generation, xbox and gamecube had hardly any rpg's. The PS2 was the obvious choice. That's not the case this generation. White Night Story doesn't have any more merit over the 360 jrpgs. Rpg fans will want to play the Final Fantasy games, but it's highly likely we'll have to wait close to two more years for it.
If rpg's are the genre of your choice, you're better off waiting a couple years on a PS3.

To more directly answer your question, I didn't buy a 360 at launch because it didn't have enough games to warrant a purchase from me. Now it does, both released and in the pipeline. The PS3 is now in that situation, but in a much worse place. It doesn't have time to start the ball rolling. The 360 is already in full momentum releasing and announcing promising games for $200 less.

acutally that would be the iditic, near-sighted and uneducated choice but you'll find that out when the real next generaion RPG's start rolling out. IMO none of those drab PC-ish type RRG's comming out now don't qualify as real next generation RPG's. Mass Effect looks like it will change that some but over all these type of games are laking that epic RPG feeling needed for a next gen game. Trusy Bell on the other hand looks to be the first. And it's not suprise that it's a japanese company to user it in.
And thus my point, Trusty bell had begun production before either Ps3 or the wii (tow japanese systems) has launched. But at this moment both PS3 and Wii have sold more than double the amount of console that xbox360 has in a years time. Now how many more JAPANESE RPGs do you think will be made for xbox360 now that PS3 and wii have been deteermined to Japans systems of choice? ANSWER: little to none.
And it's only a matter of time before Trusty bell is ported to PS3...produced by namco? Yeah, bet on it. The question was Lemmings had to wait over a year to get a strong line-up of RPGs, but when a PS3 owner has to wait a year for a strong list of RPGs, it's a bad thing. How does that make sense? I personal don't think all the RPGs you list for the Xbox will be great RPGs either. Not all 360 owners are Lemmings. Not all Playstation owners are cows. The majority of people buy video game systems to play games. If you like RPGs and want to purchase a next gen system this year, the 360 is the obvious choice.
acutally that would be the iditic, near-sighted and uneducated choice but you'll find that out when the real next generaion RPG's start rolling out.
So to answer the question of what to get if You like RPG's and want to purchase a next gen system, the PS3 is the obvious choice. if you need a quick fix for RPG's and only care about RPG's released this year, but are willing to forfit possibly even better RPG's in the future...then 360 is the choice for you.

So what you saying is 360 has too much momentum for the PS3 to catch up? Also, you still didn't answer my first question. Do you want me to ask you again? The question was 360 owners had to wait over a year to get a strong line-up of RPGs, but when a PS3 owner has to wait a year for a strong list of RPGs, it's a bad thing. How does that make sense? No. I think the 360 could be doing much better. I'm saying the PS3 doesn't have enough momentum to catch up, unless things change. Things might change, but there is no evidence of that yet.
Japan is the RPG Mecca of the world and PS3 has already sold more than 2x the amount of consoles that xbox360 has in japan in less then 2 months >>>>>>>>>>> whatever you were just talking about.
And xbox 360 has sold more than the ps3 every month since it has been out. So what's your point??? sales really aren't the end all, when talking about upcoming 07 rpgs.[QUOTE="nnavidson"]About waiting? Let put this in propective please. Thos games you say that's coming out will be in 2007-2008, right? The 360 launch in 2005, right? Now if PS3 waited for a list RPG in 2008, and was release in 2006? Tell me, how does that looks bad with the PS3, if it's the same time frame?[QUOTE="Socrates88"][QUOTE="Nugtoka"]Ah yes let the waiting continueSocrates88

I personal don't think all the RPGs you list for the Xbox will be great RPGs either. You would like to think that wouldn't you (anything you can use to support your arguement I suppose). Anyway about prospective, you are probably going to have to wait to Fall 2008 to get any good rpgs (that isn't Oblivion). That's almost 2 years from the PS3 launch. I believe that is comparable to the 360, so you have no arguement there. But let's get back to reality now. I want to play an RPG. Would I rather wait six months for a good RPG or two years? I think its pretty obvious what my answer is going to be. Good day sir. Please Log In to post.
