What should I get for Christmas?

I'm asking for a 360 or PS3 for Christmas, but I don't know which. I've looked at games for both systems and still can't decide, and I thought you guys might have some advice.

Here's what I like/ have so far:

-I looove RPGs. They are essentially all I play. My faves are Final Fantasy, Kingdom Hearts, Star Ocean, etc. Ideally I want the system KH3 is coming out for.

-I have a Wii, a DS, a PSP, and a PS2. I love them all, but I have a far harder time finding games I like for my PSP than my DS. And I love my PS2, I have tons of awesome RPGs for it, but I can't find as many that look as interesting to me on the PS3.

-I've always thought Xbox was essentially for FPS games and the like, none of which I am remotely interested in, and I'd hate to get a system I can't find anything to play on. However, my brother, who is pretty obsessed with his, keeps telling me it's what I need to get.

Right. Well, I guess what I'm really asking is, which system does everyone think will go farther for RPGs? I was automatically going to go for the PS3, but I'm just not impressed with what is out there yet and I was wondering if people thought it would pick up. Sigh, I just wish I knew what Kingdom Hearts 3 would be on already haha.

and yes Kingdom hearts 3 will be ps3 exclusive. Along with Final fantasy 13 versus. Seriously man, you want to play Valkyria chronicals :)

Awesome. That's what I was hoping. I couldn't find any official word anywhere, and all of my googling was fruitless. Was already eying Valkyria chronicals, so that's nice to hear.

You sure you got all the great RPGs on DS and PSP? There's ton of them, and Golden Sun: Dark Dawn just came out.

Oh no, I know I'm missing loads, particularly on the DS. I still need to get the new Golden Sun, 4 Heroes of Light, and Dragon Quest IX. I'm quite behind on my games after living in Europe for several years. I also need a Star Ocean for my PSP, and some YS games... I'm never gonna catch up.

well i havnt played any of the 360 but i have played valkyria chronicles , demons souls , ff13 and star ocean last hope.. Im not to sure how good lost odyssey and blue dragon are but they are the only jrpgs i can think of which are worth mentioning on the 360 (i think) Valkyria chronicles is pretty neat but it was too boring for me i didnt enjoy it that much , demons souls is fun (not jrpg but still a rpg) and apparently ff13 and star ocean are better on the ps3 so ... i'd say ps3 but only cause im not sure what the 360 has to offer. Kingdom hearts 3 will most likely be multiplat i HIGHLY doubt they will make it exclusive to the 360... if anything it'd go to the wii before the 360.. umm... and psn has ps1 classics so thats a bonus too incase u cant find the discs at retail or whatever to play on your ps2.campzor

Thanks! Yeah, I doubt KH3 would be exclusive to Xbox too. I mean, even if it came out for it, there's no way it would only be there. I've been listening to my brother too much who is so into his Xbox that he'll try and convince me of anything. I think I'm definitely leaning towards the PS3.

sadly.

Altho the PS3 has more niche SRPG type games like Disgea and Valkyria Chronicles (underrated and underappreciated).Also Demon's souls is difficult and its got all the multiplats like Fallout,FF,So4,ES etc etc

360 has a few straight up FF like RPGs like LO,Blue dragon etc

Both are good picks but i say do your research before you jump, and the way SE is right now it wouldnt surprise me if KH3 were a wii game or a 360/PS3 multiplat.

Instead of wondering which console to buy for which genre, get a PC and play everything :P

If you want a little of everything, then PS3 is the best choice. It's the best console imo. It has shooters, RPGs, platformers, adventures, racing...everything, PS3 is the console of choice. Not to mention free online for gaming, which I find is a huge plus because it's actually good, unlike most of the Wii's offering. Friend codes killed Nintendo's online imo. Wii has the better SP games (except shooters even though this year and next year bring a lot more to the platform in every genre,) while 360 has more online-focused/FPSes.

If you truly want the best of the best, PC is the proper answer.

I don't find that to be true at all personally. I know plenty of people with a PS3, but I do know more with a 360. All they play are the latest CoD or Halo though which isn't my cup of tea so to speak. They never want to play anything else besides that. I've noticed more getting a PS3 after the slim launched last year though, so I now have a good amount of people to play with more than just FPSes. I think a majority of these friends just picked up a 360 because it was cheaper.

PS3 uses Bluray which is the best for games and movies, you don't have to pay $60 a year to play online it's free, it's controllers come charge and play so there's no messing with double AA batteries taking them in and out or paying $13 for charge packs and $20-$40 for a controller charger. Get a 160GB PS3 for $299 and you will be set and an HDMI cable for $20 from Walmart if you have an HDTV.

?? i was just talking about visuals. If you take the 360's cutscenes, running at 576 p and extreme compression, vs. native 1080p cutscenes, it's clear there's a high benefit to blu - ray. 3 dvds and the game was still compressed to hell.

But ME 2 comes with an interactive comic on the ps3. I can't wait to play it. 1 missing game but an interactive story vs 2 missing games and thrust right into the action. Now i know the interactive comic can't make up for a lost game, but it's still really cool. This whole argument is about wheter it will be multi or not, and I will bet anything it will stay exclusive. Let's just agree to disagree.
