For us, ultimately it was... technologies like Pixelux, DMM (Digital Molecular Matter) and Euphoria are so processor intensive and powerful that the kind of machine you'd need to run them is not the kind of machine most people are going to have. It's such an advanced spec that we feel we really needed to do it justice. If we pulled that stuff out and delivered a sub-par experience...

I NEED THAT STUFF IT MUST BE REALLY GOOD !!!!!

i think the bigger error is not to include multi in the ps3 360 versions but one in the wii, this game would be awesome on live

My point is:

Is Lucas Arts serious in believing that Xbox360 is stronger than a C2D +9600GT +4gbRAM.....????

The PS3 is stronger than the 360, though pcs are the strongest :P

I'm gonna take advantage of the topic and say, they really are crazy, they must continue to make games like Grim Fandango!

I think they are saying that its unrealistic for the average computer owner to have a machine like that and that the percentage who #1 have that caliber of setup and #2 would realistically buy this game don't merit the extra trouble of porting.

I've never read anywhere that this is attached to the Jedi Knight series. Thats what makes me cautious about this game. The Jedi Knight games are like the perfect where its basically one Jedi/Sith fighting against everyone. The other ones have all either been garbage or aren't that type of game (KOTOR and Battlefront). If this is like Jedi Knight, it will be awesome. If this is like those garbage ass prequel trilogy games this will be absolute trash.

And my point is, did you even read what you quoted. They used PC price as the excuse saying that only people with high spec PC would be able to run the game.

I think you missed the point. He's waying they didn't want to downgrade the game and just port it to the PC from the consoles. They wanted to do the PC version and utilize all the power of the PC so Pc gamers would be happy with the final product. Go to the think and read the interview. They are doing each version of the game individual, so there won't be any ports. That's really the right way to do it.

I read somewhere else that they didn't want to make a pc port because they basically couldn't be bothered to optimise it properly, so it would run on low end and high end pc's. (edit:well, not entirely accurate but w/e, see below)

"Our goal was we wanted to get this game to as many people as possible. I definitely wish it had been possible. However the PC being the gaming platform that it is, someone with a $4,000 high-end system would definitely be able to play the Euphoria, the DMM and really technical elements of the game. But someone with a low-end PC would have a watered down experience, they would have to turn all the settings down and it wouldn't be the same game. On the other hand if we made that game for as many people as possible, because we are trying to make mass market games, something that everybody can enjoy, well then it's not taking advantage of what those $4,000 systems can do. So one way or the other depending on how you build that lead PC SKU, it's not going to be for the same amount of people, it's going to be not as good or only for a select few people."

http://www.videogamer.com/xbox360/star_wars_the_force_unleashed/preview-921.html

I doubt it wont make it to the pc eventually though... maybe a bad port with glitches and all that but I still think they will port it sometime in the future.

They aren't saying that. If you actually read your link they said " the kind of machine you'd need to run them is not the kind of machine most people are going to have "

:| What a load of crap. You could easily get a gaming rig for $500-$600 that outperforms the PS3 and 360.

What are they thinking.....

Yea, that's kinda what I got from that as well. This, no online for ps3/360... the smoking weed theory doesn't seem so far fetched now.

Apparantly the same stuff that George Lucas himself smoked when he kept redoing all those special editions of Star Wars and making the prequel trilogy.

Maybe it's because the Cell and Xenon are more powerful than many PC CPUs. Most of their technology is just physics, which both of those CPUs can be very good at, if coded properly.

I am still buying it, but no online for the superior online services(PS3 and 360..most superior..) and online for the inferior one(Wii) just seems stupid.

LucasArts is acting like pc gamers iq levels are below 80.......heres how many things that contradict with what they said about the pc version.

1.) $4,000 pc to run it perfectly.......no need to explain this any further.

2.) Too much work to scale the game properly on pc.......well they sure as hell don't mind making a version for every other damn system.

3.) Not wanting to release any type of a dumbed-down version on pc......well what the hell do you think the ps2, psp, and ds versions are? Sure as hell not the same since i recall them saying the ps2 version will not use havok or euphoria. This also shows that they already have a high-end version (PS3, 360) and a low end version (PS2)......well WTF! just put both of those versions together for pc and there ya go!

4.) Sales.....even with pirating on pc it's still a problem with consoles, exspecially the handhelds so that argument won't go very far especially when huge games come out for pc this year that will sell without a hitch. Also, who the hell would buy this game for ps2 when 2008 will be coming to a close?

5.) Way to screw over the pc gamers where your biggest fan base is and the fan base that made you what you are today LucasArts. Wasting your time on handheld versions and a ps2 version where if you did pc you actually 100% would have plenty of people that would buy it.

6.) Did these morons completely forget about the modding community??? This game has got to be using one of the biggest sandbox engines i've ever seen. Of course there screwing over multi-player from the sounds of it so this pretty much proves they're just huge sellouts now.

So with the biggest bs PR statement i've ever read, giving a big middle finger to their biggest and core fan base as well as the modding community, no traditional multi-player like the Jedi Knight games.....wow......

I don't want this game to fail, I want it to do really well but all this crap that LucasArts is doing.....they deserve to have this fail miserably.

Enough ranting, just what I think of the current situation of this game as well as the company as a whole. Going downhill and fast.

I think they are probably doing that so when the multiplayer is rubish they can blame it on the wii. If they put it on live or PSN and it sucks they have noone but themselves to blame. I think the main apeal of the game is with the single player anyway.
