What the heck was Bioware thinking when they pulled this from ME2?

In the original game, you had one armor equip type with the ability to toggle the helmet on or off. Now in ME2, the helmet is a separate equip with attributes. So not wearing it means sacrificing status bonuses.

Why don't I like wearing it? Because it interferes with the fantastic facial and conversation animation that this game has been known for. Look how stupid this is:

This added with the fact, they completely axed the inventory system means I can't even remove the armor when I want to. I have to use a terminal system (located only on the Normany).

They did an awesome job, with the dialogue, but since I paid for the Collector's Armor and Inferno gear, I have to watch it a la Master Chief styIe :(

I haven't played ME2 but thats stupid why they didn't do that. I actually would toggle the helmet for certain things. Like inside places it'd be off but during combat it'd be on. I did it because thats prolly what you would do normally if you had a helmet but yeah that looks stupid especially coming off dragon age where no matter what kinda helmet you had all the cut scenes show you without it.

Uhh

go to your quarters on the normandy and put on the helmet when you're about to do a mission. It isn't a hassle at all to do. Take it off if you're going to be walking around the citadel or something.

Gernades aren't needed when you have much better abilties that work much better then gernades and you do crouch behind small cover and stand behind large cover, crouching isn't removed the game just does it for you depending on where you are covering from.

Yeah, this surprised me also. I just went without a helmet, the stat bonuses wern't amazing anyway. I didn't use any of the preorder/collectors/dragon age armor either, but not because of the helmet. I just like the N7 gear. I think it will be patched in, but it wasn't a big deal to me, though I can see how it would bug most. As for grenades, I don't miss them at all, I much prefer the heavy weapons. Grenades felt awkward in the first, & I was always out of them.

Grenades are a skill now, and I cannot think of one time were I actually needed to use those grenades in the first Mass Effect anyway. They were pretty useless if you ask me..

Man...I loved the grenades regardless of having abilities that work better. They shouldn't have taken them down. And crouch button, like in crouch whenever you want...I want that too.Loved it in the first one.

That seems like pointless busy work, and I don't want my helmet on during a mission. You still interact with other characters even when on missions...

You got to look at the big package. The whole of the game is great. You get the feeling you were thrown into The Blade runner meets Star Trek movies and the combat system is more enjoyable than Gears Of War for me.

My opinion is mixed. Honestly I would sacrifice the bonuses for it - personally I use the eyepiece for accuracy, and that it doesn't looks weird in cut scenes. Though as a result I just can't use the Dragon Age bonus armor. As good as it looks and the stats bonuses no removable helmet = no go. - Perhaps Bioware should have done what they did with Dragon Age? Have headpieces be removed during important cut scenes? Most practical solution imo.

it did look rather awkward after :spoilers:

meeting liara for the first time as her being my romance option, she kissed the helmet which looked really wierd.
