2. BC (Huge issue for a lot of people, as it should be)- I don't know about you, but my PS2 library is huge, and I don't want to have a PS2 with wired controllers sitting by my TV. Next gen is all wireless, dude.

I really don't mind the BC thing but I would still like it to be a 100 cheaper. $299 would be great

I would also like a free game when I buy a system. I know we did not get that last gen with the PS2 but I still like at least one free game of somekind.

I think all who bash the PS3 should, you know, actually play one sometime. I was skeptical about getting one (back when it was 600 dollars) because of the price, but I've never regretted the decision. Though, I have felt a little regret from buying my Wii... Who knows, maybe I won't regret it after Mario Kart Wii, but that's a different topic.

I also HATE it when people go "OMG, reduce the price by another 100 and I'm sold!" Well, they've already had price reductions. Twice. Yet people still say that. Wake up, people. This isn't a Wii. It's higher end, and it's got more technology in it. It's going to cost more, no matter what. Deal with it.

Frankly, i only see a UK announcement and nothing for the USA. Unless it's $400 in the US, i'm not in. I refuse to spend more than $400 for a console.

Sony needs some better games as well. When MGS4 and FFXIII release they'll have 2 killer apps right there (so long as they're good).

watch ur mouth. Custom soundtracks was a huge thing last gen an only Xbox owners enjoyed that. The feature was so popular Microsoft made the feature better on the 360.

The PS3 is hideously expensive because Sony want to dominate the home movie/theatre market with their over-priced Blu-Ray. The PS3 is a business decision first and foremost, a Blu-Ray player second and a video game console LAST. Priorities are wrong and there are absolutely no games worth playing out.

There is no reason to buy a PS3 now. The games aren't compelling enough and dualshock 3 is coming out next year, and Sony is going to include it with the console. Why buy a PS3 and an extra sixaxis controller when dualshock 3 is four months away? I could save myself possibly $80.thinicer

They are all worth playing but none are ground breaking and equivalents can be found on the 360 for less cash monies.

Sony bombed on the PS3. They tried to build the most powerful machine and its resulted in countless delays and developers complaining.

No, they look utterly uninteresting, with the exception of Heavenly Sword - it's a shame its length is so short.

I think both the UK prices cuts/new system is an inspired move by Sony following the success of Halo and leading up to Christmas. Once they add great games to their line up then I think both MS and Nintendo will have a real battle on thier hands. I think the PS3 will outsell the 360 in the US and Europe in 2008 (obviously no point including Japan). I still think the Wii will sell the most based on its price as long as they have enough to sell.

The great news is that MS will now have to do something themselves so rather than all this fanboy Sony is better no MS is better blah, blah, blah, the fact is that it's gamers in general that will win!

Yep. At this rate, who knows, Sony might end up packaging the PS3 with the sixaxis rumble, a hdmi cable, a blu tooth headset, and maybe an even bigger hard drive, they are planning to release that PlayTV which lets you download movies, shows, etc.and to top that off maybe they'll even have a real price drop. So all of these things can happen next year and beyond, who knows, with Sony's track record in making promises. So why JUST WAIT when you can JUMP IN.

The people complaining about sony's price cuts and the new SKU are just people who **** for the sake of it. PS3 comes out, "ITS TOO EXPENSIVE!!". Sony responds by lowering the price, even though they will lose more money for each console sold, "Its still too much. If they hadn't included all this stuff out of the box, it would be affordable and everyone would buy it. I only want it for GAMES". Sony responds with a model stipped of all the widgits and doodads, and is made mostly for games alone. its affordable. "The new model SUCKS@! It doesnt have all the features anymore. Way to make a tard edition SONY!".

Sony is bending over backward to give people what they want, but its impossible because none of these people KNOW what they want.

As for the lack of BC, there was an article I read not long ago about how they were working on BC using only the RSX and Cell. Its possible the lack of BC is only temporary until they get the firmware worked out.gameruk2010

If your post was true then the PS3's sales would have seen considerable long term jumps when that $500 model came out ways back but it didn't. Its not just SW this is a universal thing.
