What type of gamer are you?

According to some research done at the E for all Expo, there are 5 different types of gamers:

Core Gamers:
Core Gamers choose gaming as their main form of entertainment and want to maximize their time gaming. They prefer gaming over going to the movies or out to dinner.

Don't they mean "Hardcore" gamers....?

Status Gamers:
Status Gamers are proud of their gaming skills and enjoy being the first to try the newest and hottest titles. They also like to discuss their gaming experiences at school or work.

Social Gamers:
Social Gamers view gaming as a communal experience. They prefer to play games with people they care about, forming a social link, and coordinate social functions around gaming.

Active Gamers:
Active Gamers prefer games where movements are reflected in the game and allow gamers to get out of their chairs. They use gaming as a physical release.

Casual Gamers:
Casual Gamers use gaming as an emotional release and as a way to play different roles. Casual gamers view gaming as a secondary form of entertainment and don't feel the necessity to be the first to try a new game.

Personally I would consider myself as a Social gamer. I prefer to play with my friends and enjoy playing multiplayer games with them.

Couldn't one person be Core, Status, Social, and Active all at the same time?

These categories are too limiting.

Actually just casual. Only social as far as forums and online gaming go. I do enjoy sharing gaming experiences and reading about them though.

I don't fit into any of those biased labels. :P

I'm not too hardcore, but I read up on gaming trends and I don't usually buy crappy games, but mostly quality ones. I research before buying. I don't spend too much time on Multiplaying, despite the Xbox (& PC) being my favorite platform. I don't like the Wii & Wiimote, but love the DS. I don't talk about gaming too much with friends simply because many of them don't care for gaming. 2 of my cousins and 3 close friends of mine DO CARE about gaming. I feel gaming is a personal hobby like fixing or moding cars, fishing or hunting. I don't play videogames 40 hours a week. I'm pretty proficient in all genres, except RPGs which I don't like. But I know damn well, as humble as I am, there are gamers out there who are way better than me.

I guess I'm a core gamer but I haven't been playing much of any game this year 2007 so far...

They all suck so far.

I guess I play some demos on XBLM and PSN Store but that's about it...

I'm waiting for COD4 to come out.

But I mainly use Firefox 2.0.0.8 and WMP as my main source of entertainment.

Get those statistic's away from me Im a gamer! ...I play games when ever I have time and play anygame on any platform as long as I like the game whether its SP or MP.

I refuse to be a part of this democratic view Im an independant person :p

Well that and MGS4, SMG, Mass Effect, UT3............. thats about it..

Every game since Lost Planet came out this Jan 07 has 100% Dissapointed me so far.

Is there a term for someone that games to take breaks from real life BS? I'd call it "Escapist" :P
