what type of ragin game do you prefer realistic or arcade racer. when i say arcade racer iam talking about games like mario kart, i ould not think of any proper name to refer to them as. As for realistic you probley know what i mean
There are Arcade racers that are realistic, like Daytona USA, SEGA Rally, Ferrari F355 etc. I think a better defintion would be simulation.
And I wouldn't catalogue the kind of Mario Kart as Arcade racers. The examples above *are* Arcade racers. Mario Kart and it's kind are more like misc. racers.
Realistic racers are too slow for my tastes. Of course, the only one I played was Forza Motorsport 2 so I can't quite say though I beat the Nurburgring time trial if that's of any worth. :P

Great game even though there hasnt been a new one in over 7 or so years :(. I used to play it all the time at the arcades.
When I was younger simulation (GT, Forza, GTR) today however i don't have as much time to play games so I prefer Arcade racers (Burnout Paradise, Twisted metal, Motorstorm).

Big surprise that you listed all Sega racing games, there.
For me, as long as it's good and it's got replay value (so none of the above listed), then I really enjoy it. The Burnout series is great, as is Mario Kart, but I also love Forza, Gran Turismo and GTR.
I am a sim racing fan. I do enjoy games like F-Zero and Wipeout for their fast and futuristic styIe of racing but when it comes down to it I prefer racing realistically performing cars around realistically re-created race-tracks with realistically depicted opponents.
Before I found Forza 2 I was a GT fan... but I got tired of the bumper-car physics, dumb-as-a-rock AI and nearly simcade car performance... once I found Forza I was instantly converted. I can't wait until I get my new computer and can finally get GTR2 and a nice racing wheel (the 360 wireless one is good for Forza but I want one with a clutch and 6-speed for PC sims).
With the little time I've spent with Forza 2 I've already come to the conclusion that Gran Turismo is now more like Project Gotham Racing than it is an actual "simulator."
As long as it's not GRID I'm fine with either. Currently sim racers are in a downslope though I reckon. Not a whole lot going on, and Prologue feels old and stale. Meanwhile I find Flatout: Ultimate Carnage bloody fantastic and Test Drive Unlimited mighty impressive.
I'm playing PGR2 on my Xbox at the moment, it's the only slightly realistic racer I like, it's more a mix though I'd say, because you can skid everywhere, take loads of damage without any effect etc. I like Burnout and MK as well though, I fnid arcade are more fun for multiplayer.
I like them all. Trackmania, Carmageddon, GT, Race 07, DiRT etc. I don't have a working wheel atm tho so full blown simulators like LFS and RFactor are on a hiatus for me.
Realism for sure. Gran Turismo is the best racing game ever. That being said, I still love to play Burnout, Motorstorm and others like that. NFS is pathetic.
