For me, it's Damnation...
And Rise of the Argonauts...
2 games with a ton of potential, but they're being published by Codemasters. :( The upside is that they'll drop in price super quick.

Argonauts has a great setting, and it seems to be doing everything right.
I've been following it since it was first announced, so I really hope it does well.

What bothers me even more than the publisher is the developers past. Wasn't their last game Desperate Housewives?
The Conduit. CleanPlayerYea I agree with this. Still at least it's guaranteed that the controls will be excellent.

the developer is pretty good ... Their last game (before Desp. Hosuewives i.e.) dragonshard was a good game and got 8.5. their other game battle realms was also a pretty good game with lots of new and interesting ideas[QUOTE="agentfred"]Argonauts has a great setting, and it seems to be doing everything right.

Deperate Housewives and three mediocre RTS games no one has heard of. Not a good sign.[QUOTE="BioShockOwnz"][QUOTE="agentfred"]Argonauts has a great setting, and it seems to be doing everything right.

I meant that not many people have heard of them. Which is true, because I've never heard them mentioned before now. Maybe they're good games, I don't know; but even if they can make good RTS games, it doesn't necessarily mean they can make good action games.

Well you said mediocre rts,, i was just pointing out they are not. I agree that making a good rts is not a indication in any way that the next game whether it be rts or rpg will be any good. Also, Dragonshard did had few rpg elements. Finally battle realms had pretty decent sized community and it was not certainly as unknown as you say

50 Cent is actually going to be marginally good this time. Around a 7. I think he was joking, though.[QUOTE="AdrianWerner"]RTS dev doing action-rpg= guaranteed fail in 99% of casesCherokee_JackCould you give an example?
Nox
Titan Quest
Dungeon Siege
Sacred
Loki
Silverfall
Invistus
Two Worlds
it's not that those are bad, they aren't, but they always stray more towards the average side, never transcending into greatness. I think the problem is that action-RTS is a bit too similiar to RTS on the surface and that blinds the devs, this resulting in games ending up as simplified RTSes at heart, without capitalizing on RPG genre strenghts

While I didn't liked Dungeon Siege, it did got pretty good scores ... also, for games like Titan Quest I found it to be better than the dev rts Soulstorm secondly I don't understand the part where you say games like titan's quest, sacred are rts at heart ?? what's common b/w titan quest and a rts ?While I didn't liked Dungeon Siege, it did got pretty good scores ... also, for games like Titan Quest I found it to be better than the dev rts Soulstorm secondly I don't understand the part where you say games like titan's quest, sacred are rts at heart ?? what's common b/w titan quest and a rts ?navalCompare Dungeon Siege to Totan Anihilation or Space Siege to SupCom :) And yeah Soulstorm was mediocre, but Iron Lore was composed of people from Ensemble studios.
And yeah they are very RTSish, because you click for every attack it might be a bit obscured, but look at Dungeon Siege, that played pretty much like a simple RTS and the only diffrence between it and TQ or Sacred is that you don't have to click for every attack.
In reality all those games are about stats-based combat, which is well...what every RPG does, after all Dungeons and Dragons did evolve out of Chainmail, which was a tabletop wargame, but that;s just the RPG combat that works like in strategy game , what makesRPGs truly diffrent is heavy roleplaying elements, which hack and slash RPGs unfortunately lack

AdrianWerneryeah ... but it didn't failed, it was a good enough game (85% at GR) (space seige would have been a better example :P) .

Just taking the example of Sacred or Titan's Quest, it didn't really had any strategy elements , very little tactics etc. I don't reeally see these games as RTS but more like different conceppt of rpg where character levelling and gears are focus
true ... but even without roleplaying elements action RPGs can be pretty enjoyable for many people if made correctly like Diablo 1/2 (made by dev who made RTS before). Too me, the reason these games were not good was simply because they were just poor attempt at making shallow diablo clones without what made Diablo good
Good choices TC, they both look and sound great but yeah, I think deep down we all know they'll turn out rather average. Rise of The Argonauts hasn't been getting the best of reviews (It was realeased in Australia I believe).
Some of my own choices include:
Lord of The Rings Conquest, im not very confident about Panademic being the devs after what happend with Mercenaries 2.
Hei$t, also published by Codemasters.
Heroes Over Europe, I just have a bad feeling and I can't figure out why.
Well here is one review for the game - gamefiend : 9.0 It's a pretty stupid review and I have never heard of the game, so i don't really consider it to be very reliable...
Here is another review , not so positive one : 75
The stunning visuals and sound design offer players nothing short of blanket immersion...... Most narrative-heavy games are lacking in both solid dialogue and voice acting, but even those aspects of the game are well-executed.......Regrettably, Argonauts stumbles in a few major areas. While the weapons are beyond handsome, you'll get precious little enjoyment from wielding them. The battle system is woefully prosaic and you'll tire of watching Jason perform the same finishing move over and over. The pacing is also problematic. After the exciting opening sequence mentioned above, the game kills its momentum by forcing you to perform a series of mind-numbing errands before you can begin your adventure in earnest.PasteMagzine
Demigod - looks great, but I'm affraid it'll be shallow.
Dragon Age: Origins - affraid of dumbing down after the console version announcement.
Anno 1404 - looks incredible, but since Ubisoft bought the dev, I'm affraid of yet another Ubisoft screwup towards PC gamers.
Batman: Arkham Asylum - looks great, but it'll probably be pretty shallow.
That's it for now.

Hey! I actually want Matt Hazard. It'll bomb, but I loved Dead Head Fred, and this is from the same developer. They have lots of good humor.
On Dragon Age, I would be worried about dumbing down IF it were being developed simultaneously for all platforms, but that's not the case. It's being ported from PC to consoles, kinda like The Witcher (Or Supreme Commander :P ) without any design decisions being affected by the process.Demigod - looks great, but I'm affraid it'll be shallow.

Batman Arkham Asylum.
I'm a huge Batman fan and I really want this game to be good; the problem is, I can't recall a single Batman game that ever did the capred cursader any justice so I'm worried that this will continue that recurring trend
Kingdom Hearts: 358/2 Days
I know I'll love it, but from recent previews of there being slowdown and with FFCC on DS dropping in framerate for every person that joins in... it isn't a good sign for this game.
Regardless, I'm getting it and I'll love it.
