What was so great about RE 4?

Seriously???

After you learn how to shoot the "zombies" in the leg to stun them, then press the action button to do a suplex or krate kick. It wasn't a horror game after you learn that trick, it was action game. The fear of dying was not there in RE4. RE4 was not a surrival horror game at all. to me it wasn't a Resident evil game. it was complete trash. i mean, is the internet real? I let my friends borrow the game and they said the same thing. "it got boring, its not scary" but then i pick up a gaming magazine and hear all this bull crap about great re4 was. like wtf? was i playing a different game?

Did you get up to the Regenerators? They were pretty fukn scary. I like how you're meant to get the infra red scope to help you kill them but I totally didn't defrost that room cos I was all "GET OUT THERE ARE MONSTERS IN HERE IM NOT DEFROSTING IT" and then made it all the way to the next chapter shooting Regenerators until I started the next chapter with two bullets of ammunition left, not enough to kill two spiked Regenerators. Geez I hated those Regenerators. But yeah what's wrong with your brain? 'What's so great about RE4" and then you say it isn't a horror game, wel duh, was it a great action game then (hint: yes)RABicle

i beat the whole game like a couple years ago so i dont remember much about my expierence except for that it was very easy to beat. There's nothing wron with my brain i just didnt like the game. and yeah youre right. it was great action game except for the fact that i was expect a survior horror game and got something totally different.

i dont remember what settings i played on but im sure wasnt easy mode. if anything it was default setting.

and if the regenerator are those zombies who have monster poping out their head after you "killed" them, those thing werent much a threat either. like i said, shoot one in the leg and just press A. you could clear a mob of zombies thats swarming u with that trick.

you have to shoot these guys in specific body parts to kill them, as they approach you.....and thats with a thermo sniper rifle to see it.

these guys are hard and dam freaky.

thats why i said "if they are" it was a long time ago. i bought re4 the day it came out and beat it the coming weeks. so its been a while since i play it.

and if my memory serve me right, those regenerator first appear in some icy office right? and i remember there wasn't a lot of encounter with them anyway. it was mostly with them easy ass zombies.

Also like everyones been saying, the only scary thing was the regenerators and that guy who jumps out of the oven (that made me seriously jump for some reason).Jack-o-Thompson

I remember the oven guy, and there was one other part that made me jump. When you're on the island, and you're just walking down this hallway, no enemies or anything, game throws at you the random gong noise. Scared the crap out of me, ran back to the other side of the hallway, and took aim expecting something to come out after me, which of course never happened. Damn you Capcom.

Anyways this game was GOTY and is critically acclaimed all across the board. If he doesn't like it its due to his taste. He shouldn't have to even ask why this game is great he should be asking himself why he doesn't enjoy the game. Simply put it doesn't conform to his taste and that should be the end of it.

unless you are freakin blind, capcom branded this a survival ACTION game, not a survival horror, the game is very intense, play it on pro, lets see you call it easy...GTR2addict

That's fine and all, but why brand it a "survival" anything or even an RE for that matter? It clearly doesn't share the survival elements of limited health, ammunition, and a core goal of survival (it comes as a byproduct of the core objective) rather than escorting the president's little girl out of a foreign country.

My biggest problem is the people who still try to brand it as survival-horror. RE4 is what it is, there's nothing inherently wrong with that, but it is not a survival-horror, or "survival" anything for that matter. It's a strict action game, and if that's your thing that's fine.
