what was the bigger scam - GT prologue games or Ground Zeroes?

I just cannot fathom how people could've been OK with those glorified demoes priced at 3/4 of retail games...

Which one do you think was the bigger scam?

And what was the purpose of those products?

To give the taste of the full product or in the case of GT games - fan feedback? If the latter was the case, they might as well have made beta tests.

I haven't even finished Ground Zeroes. I'll go with the other option.

At least GT could be replayed over and over, GZ is over once you finish it and get the few collectibles.

Ground Zeroes is pretty great. I'll go with GT5 Prologue.

well, I got Ground Zeroes for $6 and I only bothered to play it just before TPP released so there was no angst of being like "I want more!!", plus GZ and TPP play great, it's lots of gameplay and less cutscene which is fine by me, funny watching those that loved Metal Gear to watch lame cutscenes whine about it too

I'll say GT5:P was a scam, GZ was no doubt a demo but at least the game came in good time about 18 months, it took like 31 months between the release of GT5:P and GT5, and in the end they delivered an incomplete game with lots of cars with no cockpit view mapped out, if you ask me it was a problem of too much ambition

and just as much of a scam when GT6 released they turned off the old servers to twist peoples arms into getting GT6, evil bastards

They're only a scam if you don't feel the price justified what you got. So if you don't feel the price of admission is worth it, wait for it to drop in price. It's not a hard concept to get your head around.

@Chutebox: To me Prologue games were manifestations of insanely overinflated ego. We can pull out crap like this BECAUSE WE CAN BECAUSE WE'RE GODS and people will flock to it anyway.

I got 20+ hours out of Ground Zeroes. It was a better experience and offered me more replayability than a lot of $60 games.

Out of those GT Prologue. The biggest scam is Evolve though, its even bigger a scam than The War Z.

@Salt_The_Fries: sigh... yea ignore the quality all the cassette tapes. Ignore the non hand holding mini games it has. Ignore the fact it has diiff time and weather. Ignore the fact that you didnt take the time to learn many different stealth infiltration technics. That series was never meant for the typical minded. Which explains your opinion. Your just hype that it was one map. One post alone cant explain the depth that small game has.

Neither of those products are "scams". A scam is a "dishonest or fraudulent scheme". Selling a product for more money than you think it should cost is not fraudulent. Consumers knew exactly what they were buying. It's also not illegal like a scam usually is.

The purpose of those products is self-explanatory. It gives fans a preview of the final game, hyping them up for the full release, and making the dev/producer extra money in the process. It's a win-win from their perspective.

I got more value out of Ground Zeroes than some games being sold at full price, all while only paying $10 for it. Hard to call that a scam. Can't comment on Prologue since GT4 was the last one I played.

Scams. Kinect, MCC, GZ, Xbox One, amiibo, HaloOSTD, Wii, Fat Xbox 360, "4GB" GTX 970, etc.

Never played GT Pro...but GZ was a great game since I got like 30 hours in it and was fun to boot.

So I'll go with GT.

Haven't bought any GT prologues, but Ground Zeroes was one of the best gaming purchases I've made this gen. I actually bought it twice.

Also, a scam would be telling you that you're getting one thing and then selling you another. That isn't the case with either of these examples.

And finally, the fraction 3/4 isn't the same as 1/2 or 1/3 which was respectively the price point for GZ physical or digital, or 2/3 for GT5 prologue.

Ground Zeroes, a $40 game with 1 main mission and 5 side ops. A "prologue" to a $60 game with 50 main missions and 157 side ops.

Paying to play online. Once you scrubs started paying for that, DLC, paying for demos, etc............all of that pales in comparison to the scam that is the first......no one to blame but yourselves.

Again, GZ has never been $40.

Day one it was $30 physical and $20 digital. Not bad for a game with some slick ass gameplay that can easily net you 15-20 hours of play.

The fact that TPP is an absurdly huge game doesn't take away from that.

nobody forced you to buy them you have reviews at your disposal you knowingly bought the game when told it was short and then still want to complain. I waited until it was free on psn later on to play them

lies, Kinect useful with ever game, clouds make it 1000x more powerful than 360, 300,000 servers mean connection will never go down, teh secret sauce....then 2 years later still releasing 720p games.

GT prologue. Hell, a lot of the cars in the final version of the game aren't even finished.

Not surprising, the console way to make money these days is milking. Surprised they didn't also come with a DLC season pass.

This GZ was the opening tutorial cut to sell to use to help fund the already over budget MGSV

GT5 prologue had 73 cars 6 circuits and 16 player online for 39 dollars,hell that is more content than Titanfall which was $60.
