Chromehounds. The last big hyped game that lived up to my expectations was oblivion. I didn't add rainbow six because I didn't have any hopes for it (I already played the demo before I bought it, so no hype involved).
Sonic and the Secret Rings. It didn't quite reach the score I hyped it (low AA), but it's a great game with plenty of difficulty requiring split second timing and delivers an excellent sense of speed without ever making you feel like you're not in control. In otherwords, it delivers what I've wanted that every other 3D Sonic has failed to deliver.
A lot of games live to what I hope for. How many games was overly hype, and actually exceed the hype? Only 2 IMO. Super Mario Bros 3 and Final Fantasy VII.
Hitman Blood Money. Oh, and Gears... It actually very much exceeded what I've expected, but then it kinda dived again after not playing for a month and getting owned.
