The only stories I DON'T understand are shooters, because I usually don't pay attention. But I understood Resistance. Evertything else I follow, especially RPGs. With that said the last one I understood was GTAIV, because that's the last game I finished
I usually have a little trouble following the story in convulated JRPG's however I'm currently playing Dragon Quest VIII (PS2) right now and thankfully it has a simple (yet charming) story which I haven't had any problems following.
I understand GTA4, understood Halo 3, many RPGs I understand, yeah... about the only game I didn't fully understand the story was Metroid Prime and that is cause I didn't go searching for all the scans.
This probably has one of the best storylines ever. Anyone who says otherwise is clearly an ignorant fanboy.
So many plot twists, too. Sometimes, you don't know if Ping is going to bounce down or up!
Absolutely. The innovative story is superb. Not to mention, when the hi-resolution ball is cleverly passed beyond the opponent's hi-resolution moving-rectangle, it results in such satisfaction that I cannot begin to describe watching the score counter increase by a single digit.
Endless Ocean makes sense. But it's not exactly very deep.Tylendal

As for the topic, I can understand pretty much any story. The only exception would be games based off previous installments which I was not familiar with.
