what was the most overrated game of last gen

IMO killer 7

 the gameplay is horrible, and the story isnt fleshed out enough and ends up lacking. a bunch of people claim the story is so great.

 but the thing is the whole story is based on symbolism, and to even understand the symbolism you have to do reseach on tons of things to even understand what all the symbolism means.

the game was just a total letdown cause i went in expecting a brilliant story but ended up reading books to even make sense of what they were talkign about.

Prince of Persia: Sands of Time. It's boring and easy as hell.

I personally think that when a game like Killer7, Metal Gear Solid 2 or Shadow of the Colossus takes storytelling further than just "get guns, kill bad guy", it must be truly special.

MGS3, MGS2 was better in my opinion, and neither come close to MGS.

I see the Halo bashing has already started, fun. 

Halo series by far.  It does nothing new to expand or further the genre, the story isn't that interesting, the level design is horrible and repetitive.

Atleast Halo one was balanced enough to justify a Multiplayer, halo 2 was just terrible. 

IMO, God of War. Don't get me wrong, it was a great game, but it had a lot of problems. The combat was way too button masher friendly, it was extremely short with no real incentive to play through again, and it wasn't very challenging either.

Madden as usualmercclass

 I think the critics are really starting to realize that these games are nothing but rehash. Madden 07 got some pretty low scores compared to the other Madden games.

    I would say Madden's, as I have always had a distaste for them, yet they always score and sell very well.

I concur. They're fun but they're not the second coming.

Also FFX, I've enjoyed practically every FF in the main series except 10.Kook18

Good pick, the voice acting absolutely killed that game for me. It should have been text-based. The FFXII was a marked improvement though. 

Ikaruga.

It had a simplistic, gimmicky and highly stiff structure, and it was a total downgrade and let down from Radiant Silverun. Yet it was the name that most mainstream games got a hold off, and who ovely praise it and put it as the end-all of shoot 'em ups, while it in reallity is was hardly anything special in the genre.

all fantastic choices...I liked Sands of Time it was a little short but it was good...the 2nd PoP on the other hand was horrible IMO...I hate GTA with a passion...I won't even speak on Madden we all know why it sucks even though i play it every year but thank you Visual Concepts for bring the football back

Though I agree the gameplay, especially the fighting, doesn't hold a candle to NG. I thought God of War made up for it in art style, story and scale.

Killer 7, and God of war I hated those two games everybody else loved.

Agree.  They're good games, just not as good as the fanboys make them out to be.
