The best "single" controller imo is the 360 controller. It's simply more comfortable for me than any other controller I've ever held.Spartan070I agree. The thumbsticks are in the perfect place, the buttons are all responsive, and the weight is distributed correctly for easy handling. If I had to nitpick, I'd complain about the DPAD. I like the half-hidden style, u know?
I lol at people who say the NES controller. You obviously haven't held one recently. It's too light, has a bad shape, it's too small, it has sharp corners, and the button size is awful.
I'd say it depends on what you mean. By gamepads, it's 360 or GCN, but if it's any controller the Wiimote wins hands down.
It's incredibly comfortable and natural feeling, and has excellent weight and button feel. It's like an extension of the hand.
However, the 360 and GCN controllers dominate the dual-analog style... very well designed all around.
Gamecube had the greatest triggers of any controller ever, except for that annoying little purple Z button being so out of place.
The right analog stick should've been bigger too, my thumb would always slip off it at the WORST possible time...
WTF is up with everybody saying the N64 controller that thing was horrid, and designed for people with 3 hands.
I'd say for it's time the snes controller was awesome and the grand daddy of modern controller design
PS1-3 - basically the snes controller with an extra set of shoulder buttons, and later analog sticks are added.
xbox - snes design with analog sticks, replaced shoulders w/ triggers, and added b/w buttons.
Your sig doesn't make sense to me "I'm not so sure about HD... Nintendo doesn't seem to be in much of a rush to embrace HD, and they've been promoting strange and impractical technologies for decades!" So you are saying HD isn't strange and impractical, yet you aren't sure about it.WTF is up with everybody saying the N64 controller that thing was horrid, and designed for people with 3 hands.

I agree, the NES controller is a PoS. I remember getting blisters easily. N64 controller was pretty bad too, and so was the Gamecube one. I've yet to even hold a Wiimote. SNES contoller is the best they ever made.I lol at people who say the NES controller. You obviously haven't held one recently. Wiimote. And how strange it sounds... I really loved the GC controller.Weslii
The GC controller was a really nice piece of hardware, easy to use, confortable (the most so of last gen IMO), and extremely reliable. The Wavebird was very nice too.
I like the Wiimote now.

Ok historically any innovative idea good/bad/or ugly nintendo has pretty much embraced. From internet gaming on the snes, to the virtual boy, to rumble Nintendo has released some product, or add for except for HD. They have no HD products why? It should be right up their ally with their history of technology. That's like a guy going of fear factor eating all the crazy stuff, and then not eating a hotdog.
nahh. dualshock 2 was perfect :)personally i think it was the n64 controller,it was really nice to hold and it just felt right!
