I had such high hopes for ME3 :(

Mass Effect 3?
Bioware definitely fixed the ending with the add-on they released

Are you fargin kidding me? The extended cut was worse than the original! At least the original left something to the imagination, left room to say "This bullshit can't be true!" The extended cut turned the bullshit into indisputable fact.

Yeah, the ending went from bad to decent with the Extended Cut.

Extended cutscene at least made Joker and your team less of an A-hole.
Seriously original ending just made your team look bad. Why were they running anyway?

To me the original ending was just some messed up hallucination. Then the extended cut came along and said "No it's not, nah nah!" I like to pretend the extended cut never happened.

The oringal ending was stupid - as stuff just happaned for no explainable reason.
Joker just running away was explained. The entire galactic fleet being trapped on Earth didn't happen.
I probably missed some stuff but its been a while since I last played Mass Effect 3.

Personally though, I felt that Bioware should have come out and said "Hey, you don't like the ending? Go make your own fvcking game then!"
that pos ending.I still havent seen the extened cut mainyl cause im waiting for ME3 dlc to go on sale.
They wrote themselves into a corner. That's what went wrong with the plot. The gameplay? They never really made it anything more than a solid shooter with some powers. jg4xchamp
Let's not overstate things. The game was excellent until the ending. But that ending was beyond lame ... it was catastrophically bad. You spend 3 games fighting the Reapers and at the last minute some all-powerful ghost-kid shows up out of nowhere and finishes them off for you. It couldn't have been any more anticlimactic if they tried.
The Lead Writer part is the biggest part of the problem. Remember when Reapers were unknown beings who were almost unkillable and you just couldn't explain them or understand them? "YOU EXIST BECAUSE WE ALLOW IT, AND YOU WILL END BECAUSE WE DEMAND IT" But then the other writers were like "DUH I DON'T THINK OUR AUDIENCES LIKE SUBTLETY, LETS JUST SAY THEY'RE SPACE TERMINATORS, OH AND THERE'S SMALLER ONES TOO".tagyhagMeeting Sovereign for the first time in Mass Effect was one of the coolest moments this gen.
"Organic life is nothing but a genetic mutation, an accident. Your lives are measured in years and decades. You wither and die. We are eternal, the pinnacle of evolution and existence. Before us, you are nothing. Your extinction is inevitable. We are the end of everything."
Mass effect 1: i was introduced to the reapers with the awesome dialogue with sovereign and the ending where he almost single handed destroys the fleet protrecting the citadel: damn can't wait for mass effect 2 and 3, those reapers are badass.
Mass effect 2: harbringer and the human reaper, damn still badass
mass effect 3: we are killer robots with a bad ai in form of a child that by some reason exists in the citadel, oh and harbringer cant speak now, i turned his volume off. DAFUQ BIOWARE?!

So much this. I was playing the last 4-5 hours of ME3, loving every dam second. Got to the ending, what a let down.Mass effect 1: i was introduced to the reapers with the awesome dialogue with sovereign and the ending where he almost single handed destroys the fleet protrecting the citadel: damn can't wait for mass effect 2 and 3, those reapers are badass.

It was quickly becoming my favorite Mass Effect game and then the ending just sucked out all the air.well thats what happens when you make a story as you goi, they should've had the story ready before they even finish mass effect 1, but seemes they made it as they go and couldn't come up with a decent explanation behind the reapers. Even the dark energy story would've have been better than a bad ai that just let's you do what you want at the end after endless generations of slaughter, shepard didn't win, the ai decided to let shepard win.

That ending was extra terrible from what I expected, but it was kind of well on its way of being a train wreck in some fashion. You can't have this indestructible, all knowing, can't be explained enemy fleet of doom, and not have a victory for the player that does come off ridiculous. It's usually what happens when all you do is raise the stakes too high. It sounds "epic" on paper in theory, but it's really just building up to something that is gonna seem ridiculous regardless. Admittedly the plot had its moments along the way, and a standard deus ex machina ending wouldn't have hurt the game as much as the ending we got.I wasn't all that taken with the ending myself but I think this is a case where the whole thing taken in is better than any one part. It's one of my favorite video game universes of all time.
Luv dat multiplayer. It was a blast.

I agree on the MP part. I was surprised how well they pulled it off.

It is very easy to pull off a good MP nowadays. You have so many good examples, just rip-off one, but with different skins.

i don't know, personally a good/ bad ending can ruin a story, the universe was awesome and had great lore but they failed to deliver.

Mass Effect 1 STORY is the best in the series
Mass Effect 2 is the best on average for the series
Mass Effect 3 has best combat but worse everything else
imo.
I still really like all the games... but I remember the first more fondly... played through and completed ME1 7 times... completed ME2 twice... and only completed ME3 once.

I put more hours in the MP than the single player (and I never do that). For some reason, it hooked the hell out of me.I thought it was going to feel tacked on and boring but me and my friend got hooked so much that I maxed out a class pretty fast. Also on ME3 as a whole I still enjoyed the game it was just that ending that felt like a kick to the nuts.

Never it wasn't. I was referring to this. http://masseffect.wikia.com/wiki/Mass_Effect_3:_LeviathanIf there is one thing the original ME thing did much better than ME2 and ME3, it was definitely the whole plot in general. The Reapers were really cool in that game when they were shrouded in mystery. As soon as they outed them it started to realy blow.
I think the other games were stronger games, but the first ME was much funner and much more interesting to me.
They wrote themselves into a corner. That's what went wrong with the plot. The gameplay? They never really made it anything more than a solid shooter with some powers. jg4xchampthey had a much better plot they had planned out and then just decided to scrap in favor of ghost childs and spouting that bs "organics and synthetics will never get along". Should've stuck with the dark matter plot.
