Guys I was just wondering what it will be that moves you to buy 1,2 or all 3 next gen consoles? Will it be games? Will it be price? Will it be graphics? For me it will be which ever has more of the games that I wish to play. As I get older both my gaming tastes and time spent on them has changed greatly. I have to admit that I am very intrigued by the tablet controler of the WiiU. I can see it adding lots of value and unique functions to gaming. I would imagine a MMO type game like WoW for example would have a nice home on a system with a tablet controler. You could easily manage a tool bar on a tablet versus using a traditional controler. The thing with me on the WiiU is if it will have legitimate versions of games like CoD, Madden, Resident Evil, Bioshock, Splinter Cell, Ghost Recon, Rainbow Six, Far Cry 3 and others. It has been reported that Nintendo claims that the WiiU will be as powerful as the 360 or PS3 and maybe even a bit more. When I look at todays games like BF3, MW3, Gears 3, Uncharted 3 and others, I have to say that if that is what we can expect from WiiU and maybe a bit more, it would do very well. Obviously it is all a ways out and we really dont know anything about any of the 3 next gen consoles. Will we be seeing 1080p being the visual standard in console gaming ? Is BluRay the definitive media format? Will digital distribution have a larger roll? Will motion control gaming play a larger roll or is it just an extra? What about pricing? The PS3 struggled mightily at its launch price of $599-699. Can any of these companies risk launching a pricey console or is $299-399 the sweet spot?

I think at first, it will be price. For me, it will definitely about the selection of games available. I think the Wii U is going to have a hard time finding buyers unless it improves upon the visuals of the PS3 and Xbox, which we're kind of unclear of at this point. In order for Nintendo to be successful, I really feel like they need a change up. The Wii was a brilliant idea that didn't pan out so well (at least for longtime nintendo gamers), and I think it would be in nintendo's best interest to go to what they do best, and that is push their flagship games to the top. If the Wii U is able to open up with a Mario, or Zelda game (unlikely) I certainly believe it will send their sales in the right direction. I'm guessing the following price ranges: Wii U ($250-$300) XBOX 720 ($300-$400) PS4 ($350-$400) If each times their release well (Wii U this summer, the other two probably looking at the Holiday Season), I think we'll find a similar battle in terms of sales. Wii will win because of a lower price range and a wider audience, but the Xbox and PS4 will probably have a longer lifespan as well as a higher price range.

I feel all consoles will be the same. There's only a few deciding factors. Games being one of them. online being another. Who's got exclusives? Who's got free online? Right now im leaning towards PS4 & WII U. Microsoft just keeps diggin their own grave as far as im concerned. We'll have to wait & see though.

For me: Backward compatibility.

There has been SO many great games this generation, and knowing the Xbox 360 hardware, I won't be able to replay them in 4 years, if the new Xbox isn't backwards compatible. This is the single most important feature for me.

the 2 big things now will be games and service. the company that provides the most tempting services will get most of the 3rd party sales. the more they can tie people to XBL/PSN/Wiiu services the more games will be sold on those systems. if people need to pay a bit more to get into those services then they will. this is where MS has the advantage at the moment with live. they have many millions of people invested in live and they continue to focus on that above all else. since they get a cut out of all 3rd pary games sold on the 360 its win win. the XBL fee is also a very nice revenue stream. games of course are also very important. itll be up to first parties to set platforms apart but 3rd party support will remain very very important. this is where ninty and sony have the advantage (first party games). the PS4 will get the multiplats and also have sony exclsuives. the wiiu will of course have its own games also but long term 3rd party support is in question. MSs policy of buying in exclusive or timed exclsuive content is not as potent as guranteed exclusives that people know they can only get on a PS4 or wiiu. price, within reason, wont be a factor. as long as none of them are stupid enough to charge 600 at launch the price wont make a huge difference. the cheapest console will have an advantage but if it lacks the services and/or the big 3rd party games then people wont be as tempted. a console priced at 350 wont have a huge advantage over a console priced at 400 i dont think if the 400 console is offering more gaming options (better services, kinec/move in as standard also...that kind of thing). horsepower, as we have seen 3 gens in a row now, will also be a minor issue. its important for 3rd party support since multiplat is their priority. but as long as all 3 can use most of the same code devs wont be too fussed about supporting all 3. rumbelings (and so fat they are only rumbelings..nothing is confirmed) could be an indication that MS and sony are taking their foot off the gas (where as ninty are probably making the biggest leap in console history from the wii to wiiu :P).

I think three things are most important:

low price (I want something under three hundred dollars... not necessarily at launch, but maybe after a few price drops)

hardware reliability (I want something that is going to last at least ten years)

hardware power (the most powerful system is usually the best)

Its a mix of the three, but I think the games make the system. Sony didn't fall behind so far like Xbox did against PS2 last gen because it managed to keep up and even surpass Xbox in a lot of the games they offered. While MS releases one or two core exclusives from their studio, Sony is busy pumping out around 3 or 4 nowadays. Of course Nintendo doesn't have many games, but the mix of few quality games (like Zelda) and incredibly cheap price point helped them a LOT.

As it stands, I think the most desirable features are as follows:

1. Games (quality and quantity)

2. Price

3. Release date (early releases will do better)

4. Innovative or unique offers (like Xbox Live, Blu Ray, Motion Control, etc.)

5. Marketing

7. Reliability

6. Power (something too weak might suffer from being wanted, though as the Wii and PS2 show, its not the biggest factor)

Games. PS4 will be the safest bet with all the franchises and developers Sony own, they actually support their consoles 5+ years down the line with a lot of software whereas the other two do the bare minimum. And an easier console to work with so mulitplats don't suffer. MS will keep Halo, Gears, Fable and Alan Wake going and hopefully something new. XBLA should continue to be amazing as it is now or better. I'll get the Wii U some years later when it's cheaper for Mario, Zelda & Donkey Kong.

The only series exclusive to console I can't live without is Halo, so I'm kinda trapped into buying xbox 720 (seriously hoping that isn't what they call it). Very interested in the Wii-U also, I have much higher interest in the tablet controller than I did in the wii mote. PS4 I'll end up buying well after launch once the price drops a few times, same as I did with the PS3.

Not the graphics, that's for sure. I'd say the most important aspects will be price, 3rd party support and casual gaming appeal.

Well if Nintendo continues to make its awesome 1st party and a good third party support with AC and all that then that will be the deciding factor :D

At this point I'm doubting I'd ever buy a nintendo system again, and considering the crap I put up with regarding the 360 the PS4 is a definite pack leader for the time being.

I guessing all 3 are going for gimmicks. I respect what Nintendo was trying to do with the Wii, but they seemingly trashed console gaming for the hardcore, imo. I'll wait and see what they release but I'm thinking I may upgrade to a better rig and PC game only next gen.

At leat two, maybe all three will have very similar games, so if I only choose one, it'll be the one with the least technical flaws. Whichever system consistently has games with better, smoother frame rates. Also, DRM will be taken into account as well.

Innovation. Something new, that i havn't played with before.

If the PS3 and 360 are replicated with better graphics and more power, i'm not buying them. I already have a gaming PC

Deciding factor?

I'll take the system that does not force some half-assed attempt at 'innovation'down our throats...
