Interesting poll. What will prevent you from buying a PS4.

If they lock out used games mabey...but I doubt that is going to happen. For the most part the PS4 will be my go to system, followed by the Wii U because I love Nintendo's 1st party, I just hope they get strong 3rd party support this time and a good online network that let's you play online for free.
I have zero interest in the next Xbox, just like this gen (except for Witcher 2 and Gears, those games are good but not good enough to buy an Xbox for IMO).
If they continue their focus on releasing cinematic movie-like experiences then I'm out. That's not what I'm interested in.
Nothing else really bothers me. I just wish Sony would get back to focusing on games like they used to.
None of those. If they charge for online I simply will not pay for it. I have enough friends in real life that love to play games anyways.
No backward compatibility.
When I bought my PS3 slim I hadn't realised they'd taken the BC out. Frankly I felt like they cheated me.
I've seen a lot of speculation that they'll have to leave it out again, that they can't afford it. I think that'd be a massive mistake. PS3 has amassed such an epic library of content that they'd be fools to leave BC out this time. That should be one of the lures they use to win over converts. Buy a PS4, catch up on all the games you missed when you were stuck with MS/Nintendo/nothing. It worked for PS2.
No used games would also seriously sour the deal.
IF it has no BC, and it doesn't have the multiplayer functions that the 360 (and really every system should have) this current gen.. I would gladly have sacrificed the stupid ass bluray player (which I rarely ever take advantage of) if it meant that the system had more ram to have cross game chat, party system.. And kept the BC feature.. sSubZerOoI so agree. I use netflix, or stream HD movies a lot more than watch them on disc or blu ray. It just wasnt a necessity. Playing ME3 on 360 and I laugh at how people complain about disc swapping. I even dramatically act out how hard it is when my friends are in my room. Its such a non issue.
Lack of games i want to play on there and they better have it be 1080p out of the box otherwise i will be getting a ps4 day 1
charging for online, focusing their system on a hand gesture/motion control device that makes you look like a joke, having no good exclusives other than a couple of shooter franchises(i hate shooters), needing me to pay to access netflix or other video streaming services wich i already pay for, changing the dualshock to a big bulky controller with a terrible d pad.
paid online, no wifi at launch, no HDMI port at launch, DVD storage medium, slide out disc tray, poor ventilation, high failure rate and did I mention paid online gaming ?
all those things would dissuade me from buying a PS4.
I won't buy the PS4 if the Wii U actually does get super strong 3rd party support including most multiplats. That means I won't have to rely on a multiplat sony machine like I did this gen to compensate.
I basically have two needs every gen
-Nintendo's phenominal first and second party games
-The phenominal games created by thrid party developers
If I can get both on one system, I'll only need to get that system
no backwards compatibility.Big_PecksIf rumors are true they are no longer using the Cell which means no Backwards Compatibility.
Sony does not MANDATE that every PS4 game have an Online Pass, and publishers do it voluntarily like they do now, I'll be okay with it.charizard1605Yeah that is very likely. I don't see how Sony could regulate the other companies with online passes.
[QUOTE="charizard1605"] Sony does not MANDATE that every PS4 game have an Online Pass, and publishers do it voluntarily like they do now, I'll be okay with it.CajunShooterYeah that is very likely. I don't see how Sony could regulate the other companies with online passes. That's honestly all I want. I mean, I'd rather there be no online passes- but as long as we're getting them, I hope they're not mandatory.
none of the above.
My own money situation dictates I likely won't purchase the next gen systems for quite a long time like 4-5 years after release.
