That's like Nintendo killing Mario off. What will Xbox360 be left with? Why are they dropping their bread and butter? Will this be the decline of shooters? Is Xbox trying to shed away the "shooter console" perception it has? I think Microsoft made a big mistake entering the console war in the first place. Their whole goal was to make PC gaming to console entertainment. I think they fail. RTS, FPS, MMO, and Bioware games all belongs on the PC. Halo was the only successful "PC" genre to become a blockbuster on console. When that goes, Microsoft will go. This is all opinion, but can be proven true with time...
Halo Wars is a 360 exclusive scheduled to come out after Halo 3. I'm pretty sure Halo 3 is the end of a trilogy starring Master Chief, but more Halo games are bound to happen.
As far as 360 franchises for after Halo, Microsoft has Mass Effect trilogy and Gears of War.

I'll be suprised if he's not banned or suspended for that with all the other suspensions I have seen on here. Starting to call certain fans homosexuals is a little too far IMO.
Dont mistake GeoW with GoW....GeoW isnt worthy of being placed next to Kratos (Its an awesome game, but my completley biased opinion puts GoW above almost every other game :D )
I don't think Halo the franchise will end any time soon, people can claim that's it's intended to be a trilogy all they please, that doesn't stop the fact that Halo is one of the biggest cash cow franchises in gaming right now.
Sure the story of John may end after three but there are many more opportunities in the over story arc to make another set of three or more with someone else.
Halo as a shooter may be over for a short while, but that franchise will be kept alive. Just put it this way, there's always Gears of War, which I think is a much better game and franchise at this point.

I don't know about GoW being better than Ninja Gaiden, but I will say it comes in at a very (and I mean extremely) close 2nd to Ninja Gaiden. Kratos may be ruthless, but Ryu Hayabusa is smooth and has better style.
After the series ends people will play Halo 3 multiplayer for the rest of the 360's lifespan, possibly longer. And they will play Halo 3 again on Legendary. And they will play all the other good games for the 360.
Bungie will finally relize the FPS genre is going no where. Later on, new titles are announced. Halo: The adventure; Halo: Puzzle Wars; Halo: Sports; Halo: Streets; Halo: Fantasy VII; Halo: Adult version;
Yea....they definetely guarenteed that the halo universe will be revisted a nauseating number of times. Bungie will make new games and people will buy them. There probably will not be a game that is as big of a success for a while.

You pretty much said how I want the trilogy to end. It would be a great scene: Earth is joyous in its victory against the Covenant, partying and what not, maybe Elites and Humans will live in harmony? Besides the point...but it will cut away from the parties on Earth and will show Master Chief either floating through space or lying dead in a space craft; his helmet cracked beside him and his face staring right at you with blank eyes. I think that would be a great ending.
And I doubt Microsoft will let the Halo franchise die. The trilogy will end like many have said, but there will be a few spin-offs based off of the universe and the books and such.
I seriously hope they end the main Halo series after Halo 3. Seriously, it's better off this way then if we have to suffer through a bunch of bad spin-offs and side stories. Bungie is a very talented developer and they should work on a whole new IP after this.
